Smoked Salmon Dilemma, Please Help?!
Answers: I want to have some smoked salmon for christmas dinner as an appetizer but not sure of what to do? Any recipes or procedures? Something with bread will be awesome
I love smoked salmon and often have it. Buy it already sliced - this will help you save time and waste if you aren't keen on slicing it your self.
Capers - I almost always have capers with smoked salmon. If you want to use them then may I suggest you buy the tiniest capers you can find. Even better if you can get them packed in salt instead of brine. The better quality are salt packed. And, as you would do with those in brine you rinse them well before using as a garnish. You should place several to 6 on each plate over the salmon. I realize that many people do not like them so I say it's an optional.
+Place 2 or 3 slices in a dish... not one on top of each other but laid out in the middle of the plate. Drizzle some olive oil on over, a sprinkle of freshly grated black pepper and serve.
You could also garnish with some fennel sprigs.
Have a wedge of lemon on the plate. Serve with (non-slated) buttered toast wedges.
+If you are have stand up appetizers then dice the salmon and mix with good quality cream cheese and spread over toasted bite sized pieces of bread. Lay out in a plate and let everyone at 'em.
+ I usually serve a Cava or prosecco (or even a good lager)with smoked salmon. I would also suggest a bubbly rosè too.
This is the new menu from my resturant.
They mix tuna, potato(small cubes and steamed) and mayonnaise together..
Then wrap inside the smoked salmon..
Its easy to prepare. U only need to steam the potato thats all :)
serve on a bed of lettuce with some capers, diced onion and a ball of cream cheese
Here is a recipe for a very simple, but delicious and impressive smoked salmon appetizer. You can easily adjust the recipe for how many people you need to serve and you can replace the cucumber rounds with sliced baguette if you prefer bread.
I use lavish or pita bread but you can use normal bread. I spread the lavish with cream cheese mixed with lemon, pepper and chives quite thickly. Lay the smoked salmon on top and roll then cut into bite size pieces. I love smoked salmon sushi with wasabi that I make myself but you did ask for bread.
The best way to eat smoked salmon (has to be Norwegian) is natural i.e. without any additives.
Some like it with minced hard boiled egg, capers, onion and a bit of olive oil.
