Recipes for 1/2 head of cabbage?!

Question: I have a 1/2 head of regular cabbage that I want to use tonight. I'm looking for a nice recipe with some tang to it, perhaps a soup or salad, but not limited to that. I am willing to go to the grocery store to get ingredients that I might not have, so be creative!

Brown about 4-6 slices of chopped up bacon in a tablespoon of olive oil. When crisp remove and drain on paper towels. But leave the fat in the pan.

In the pan, over medium high heat saute one onion, sliced thin and the cabbage shredded or sliced thing. Cover, turn heat to medium low and allow it to steam a bit in its own juices. Season with salt and pepper. Stir the vegetables occasionally and do not allow to burn. When the vegetables are fully cooked, add the bacon back in and stir and serve.

Dog River Cole Slaw:
Put your grater blade attachment in your food processor
cut your cabbage into chunks and process it
next put in a few bell peppers and a few onions that have been peeled and skinned of course.
two or 3 stalks of celery
turn this out into a nice salad bowl
add some mayo and sweet pickle relish
salt and pepper to taste.
Best if served the next day.
will last till it is gone.

Sweet and Sour Braised Cabbage:

1/2 head of cabbage, shredded
1 TBS salt
3 TBS sugar
1/4 Cup vinegar.........I prefer the seasoned rice vinegar, but any will do just fine.....
2 TBS butter or margarine.........

Add all contents to sauce pan, bring to a gentle boil and cover and let simmer on low for about an hour.......remove lid and reduce the liquid.....enjoy, esp. good with pork chops and mashed potatoes.....
