How do you make salmon patties?!
Answers: I am looking for someone with experience who knows how to make salmon patties (southern style). I watched my Mom make them a million times but I did not get the recipe from her before she passed and would love to make them but all the recipes I have found have too many ingrediants and do not come out the same as hers. I know mine will not compare to my Mom's but I would love to come close. If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it.
i love them i make them often, i buy the chicken of the sea , pink salmon skinless boneless, in the pouch, i add mayo, onion powder, little garlic powder, little lemon juice, egg, crumbled crackers, and some butter, then i make the patties and fry them in some veg. oil, there is a recipe on the back of the pouch for the patties but this is my variation, my wife loves it when i make them this way, i will use two - three pouches depending how many i want to make and some times after i mix the above ingredients i will add a package of instant mashed potato's, the loaded kind, to the mix before making the patties this really adds some good favor, and makes more patties,
Use two eggs; take out the salmon skin and bones; crush in a half sleeve of saltines. A little milk. Mush it up, hand form it and drop it into about 1/4 inch cooking oil. Brown.
get some salmon than get some patties and there you go
I use cal salmon
1 egg
a little bit of onions cut very fine
a filler..cornmeal makes them very firm
so you can use a little bit of bread crumbs or I prefer oatmeal.
Mix together and Fry in very hot oil, each side until golden brown.
Umm.. I'm hungry now
two cans of salmon, two eggs, crackers, bell pepper and onions. Mixed together. fry in 1cup vegetable oil
I don't have measurements because I make them by eying it.You can probably do the same thing. First you saute some chopped up green onions. Then you open one or two cans of salmon(I don't like the bones but some people like them) You can get them out or leave them. Then I crush up some crackers, You need enough to form the patties). Add one egg per small can of salmon. add red pepper if desired. add a little garlic powder if desired . Stir up in a bowl and form into patties. Fry them in a small amount of oil until browned.
you can substitute salmon for the crab and would be delicious
1 pound crabmeat, picked free of shells
1/3 cup crushed crackers (recommended: Ritz)
3 green onions (green and white parts), finely chopped
1/2 cup finely chopped bell pepper
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 egg
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 lemon, juiced
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
Dash cayenne pepper
Flour, for dusting
1/2 cup peanut oil
Favorite dipping sauce, for serving
In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients, except for the flour and peanut oil. Shape into patties and dust with flour.
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. When oil is hot, carefully place crab cakes, in batches, in pan and fry until browned, about 4 to 5 minutes. Carefully flip crab cakes and fry on other side until golden brown, about 4 minutes. Serve warm with preferred sauce.
I got this recipe from my mom.
1 can salmon
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 eggs
1/4 - 1/2 cup cornmeal (until it is stiff enough to form patties)
Mix in bowel. Shape into patties and roll in flour until coted. Fry in in skillet in oil until golden brown on both sides.
I go to the seafood section of the Stop and shop, target, path-mart, walmart and ask for them
