If I want a hard-boiled egg to still have a slightly squishy, soft yolk, how long do I cook it?!

Question: I think these are referred to as 2 min or 5 min eggs, or something like that, but I'm not sure which..

You need a Egg Perfect Egg Timer. I have one myself and I absolutely love it!

Like your boiled eggs done just so? Take the guesswork out of cooking them. Place this timer in the water with your eggs. During cooking, its color darkens, first around edges, then to core. Markings for hard, medium, and soft show through the clear magnifying dome. Acrylic timer comes with instructions and is 1 1/2" long.

I put my eggs in a pot of cold water, then bring to a boil, remove from the heat and cover. To make hard boiled leave 15 minutes untouched for soft boiled leave 8-10 minutes.

It is called a Soft-boiled egg. Cook it 2 minutes after it comes to a boil.

The easiest way to get soft-boiled eggs consistently runny (not over- or under-cooked, but just right) is to start them off in *cold* water, bring it to the boil, and then boil for three minutes. Starting them in cold water also means that the eggs are less likely to crack due to sudden temperature changes.

If you're cooking yourself more than one egg, you should open them both straight away, rather than opening the second after eating the first. This decreases the risk of the second egg continuing to cook inside the shell.

A good hardboiled egg takes 10 minutes..too much longer causes the yolk to turn greenish.

Depending on how soft you want it, I'd experiment with the timing until I had it just right. Probably 3-5 would be right for me.

Usually it's between 10-15 minutes for a hard boiled, so about 5-7 minutes would be about right for soft. Also, if you tend to just have one egg here and there, there's something out for the microvave. It looks like a little egg with feet and a face on it, you put water in the bottom and then the egg and close it. You microwave for only a few minutes. Just a suggestion for ya.

Hard boiled eggs dont have sqishy yokes. You want a poached or soft boiled egg.

I cook it 3-4 minutes from the time the water boils.

I love soft boiled eggs. I tried 4 mins after the boil, but found some of the white wasn't cooked well enough. I find about 4 and a half mins does the trick :)

I find it quite amusing that it's so hard to cook an egg!

But hey! That's just the way it goes, cooking a good steack is also excruciatingly difficult.

Experiment is the only way!

if you are going to add the egg into boiling water it may take around 5 ms to get the soft yolk or if you going to start from cold water means about 10 ms.
