Is swallowing fish bones dangerous?!

Question: I had a mexican friend that salted and fried small bluegills until they were so crispy that you could eat them bones head and all. It sounds gross but it was actually quite good. However I got stomach achs from this. He later had surgery for diverticulitis. I belive it was from th sharp fish bones scraping out his colon etc. Sooo I would not recomend eating them

Yes. They can get caught in your throat. Some fish have edible bones, like sardines and anchovies.

Only if you get them stuck in your throat.

There are two dangers - getting one stuck in your throat (which happened to me YEARS ago), and damaging your insides by having a bone scrape your throat/stomach/etc. ;););)

Oh yeah! Especially if they catch in your throat or further down.
