I'm making chocolate covered spoons, how should I let them dry?!
Answers: Should I dip them and then lay them down on a sheet of wax paper, or should I hang them so they drip dry? I'd like for there to be a nice puddle in the spoon, but I don't want there to be the chunky part on the back of the spoon...any suggestions?
Maybe put them on Wax Paper mouth side(front) down, that way they don't get a flat back and the chocolate should puddle on the right side.
Wax paper will work fine. It’s probably too much work to hang them. Do you have some small ramekins or bowls where you could lay the spoon, keep it balanced without the chocolate part coming in contact with the ramekin/bowl?
not sure if you would want to do this...but when i make choco covered strawberries, I dont like the flat bottom on them from laying them on parchment paper...SO what i do is stick a skewer into them, dip them, then stick the other end of the skewer into s piece of reasonably thick styrofoam...SO maybe you could try doing this for the spoons?...stick the end of them into styrofoam...the choco would drip the opposite way, opposed to hanging them....but...its a suggestion...
hanging them might not be too hard, as long as ya attached the string to the end of them before ya dip them so there is no hassle...jsut got to tie it to something....
If you are REALLY trying to make these perfect...you could just hold each one till the chocolate hardens a bit, at least on the back side...then set them on a plate in the freezer, to speed up the hardening process...?.....
Waxed paper or lightly-greased foil. Happy Holidays!
