How can I make Chocolate Covered Pretzels without a double boiler?!

Question: I would like to make chocolate covered pretzels for a party tomorrow, but all recipes are calling for a double boiler, but I do not have one. I was wondering how to make them without a double boiler.

Thanks In Advance!!

You can melt the chocolate in the microwave very slowly but I've never had much success with that. What I would do is heat water in a saucepan and put a metal bowl over the top of it to melt the chocolate in. You can get a metal bowl at one of those dollar stores if you don't have one. This is in effect a makeshift double boiler. Good luck, sounds yummy!

You can use your microwave.
Cut the choco. in 1" pcs. and put in the microwave for 2 min.
Stir and Put in again for 2 min.
Keep doing this. What ever you do don't get any water in it,
it will ruin it.
It looks really cool if you drizzle white choco. over the top of the dark choco.

I just use a microwave and semi chocolate chips you just have to watch it carefully so it don't burn but they come out yummy

Try a crockpot.

You can use your microwave. Chocolate chips are easiest to use. Pour the chips into a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 20-30 seconds at a time, taking the bowl out each time and stirring the chocolate, until completely melted. 2 minutes at a time is too long and you will burn your chocolate. As you are coating your pretzels, the chocolate will start to harden again so just put it back in the mircowave following the previous instructions until melted again. Cool the pretzels on wax paper. Also, after you coat each pretzel and before the chocolate hardens, you can sprinkle chopped nuts or candy sprinkles on them. They make sprinkles in the shape of snowflakes too and you can find them at any grocery store!

Have fun at your party!!

Place your chocolate in a stainless steel or glass-proof bowl.
Put the bowl over a pot of simmering water and keep stirring until all the chocolate is melted.
Of course, make sure that the bowl is wider than the pot, and its bottom does not touch the simmering water.

I don't have a double boiler either, they are expensive. Anytime I make chocolate covered strawberries, I just put the chocolate on the stove top in normal sauce pan. Just put the heat and low and stir constantly (this will prevent burning and scorching the chocolate-that is the only purpose for the double boiler.) I have also tried the chocolates that come ready to be put into the microwave and they have come out just great. Take chocolate off heat after melted to cover the pretzels and if your chocolate starts thickening up again just put back over the heat and it will thin chocolate back out. Good luck, I am sure they will be great.

Instead of chocolate-covered pretzels, try this recipe:

Chocolate Drop Pretzels Recipe

Container: cookie sheet
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
1 pound (1 bag) of mini round pretzels
14 ounces (1 bag) of Hershey's Kisses or Hugs
17 3/5 ounces (1 bag) of M&M candies

Directions

* Preheat oven to 200°.
* Line a cookie sheet with parchment or waxed paper.
* Place as many pretzels on the cookie sheet as will fit.
* Top each with a Hershey's Kiss or Hug. The Hugs chocolates melt faster than Kisses.
* Place in oven and remove when candy begins to soften just enough to press an M&M candy or decoration into softened candy.
* Top each with a holiday M&M or decorative candy of choice.
* Allow to cool completely and then place in freezer for 15 minutes to firm up chocolate.
* Remove from freezer, place pretzel candies in airtight container and store in freezer until ready to use.

*Any small shaped pretzel can be used, such as square, waffle-shaped or round.

*Serve for any holiday or event by changing the color of the M&M candies to colors consistent with the celebration.
