Will it make a difference if i melt the butter when im making chocolate chip cookies?!
It takes only a couple of hours to get a stick of butter to room temperature. I wouldn't risk the labor involved in making cookies for a couple of hours waiting time.
I toss my butter on the kitchen counter before I go to bed, and the next day they are perfect for baking. Whatever you do, never try to substitute melted butter in a cake recipe. It absolutely will ruin it.
Answers: It definitely will make a difference. Most cookie recipes say to cream butter and sugar together. When you melt butter, it changes the consistency and separates. It is impossible to incorporate melted butter into the sugar to make a light and fluffy consistency. I think you are going to end up with very flat cookies and the consistency will not be correct. They will probably still taste good.

yes it will mix easier
I watched my neighbour do this just hours ago -using melted butter that is, and those cookies were the best I have EVER tasted!
You would have better success if you just used it at room temperature. Often times the melted butter will make the cookies flatten out in the oven.
the one thing i have learned from baking over 25 years is..DO NOT CHANGE THE CONSISTENCY OF INGREDIENTS FOR EASE. That said, metling the butter will cause the cookies to remain flatter and denser not light and airy
Absolutely! Creaming room temp butter and sugar together incorporates air. This is the source of leavening in most cookie recipes. When heated, the air expands making the cookie lighter. Your eggs should also be at room temperature.
