SAVORY LEMON RICE
Pkg. precooked rice for 6 servings
3 tbsp. butter
1 (13 3/4 oz.) can chicken broth
1/4 c. chopped parsley
Grated peel of 1 lemon
1 tbsp. lemon juice
Prepare rice as label directs but use 3 tablespoons butter and, instead of water, use chicken broth with enough water to make amount of liquid label calls for to cook 6 servings of rice. When rice is cooked, add parsley, lemon peel and juice and toss to mix. Makes 6 servings.
ASPARAGUS WITH GARLIC BUTTER
2 lbs. fresh asparagus or 2 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen
3 tbsp. butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp. soy sauce
Cut asparagus into 1 inch pieces. Cook asparagus in boiling water until crisp tender. Melt butter in large saucepan, add garlic and soy sauce. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly for 1 minute. Add asparagus, toss to coat. 6 to 8 servings.

well i'm a soul food fan so maybe some mashed potatoes,sweet corn,green beans,lemonade,or maybe some corn bread muffins like you get at famous daves.
Just about anything........regular mashed potatoes, steamed wild rice with peas and butter.

Make-Ahead Mashed Potatoes
* 5 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, cubed
* 2 (3 ounce) packages cream cheese
* 8 ounces sour cream
* 1/2 cup milk
* 2 teaspoons onion salt
* ground black pepper to taste
1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
2. Place potatoes in a large pot of lightly salted water. Bring to a boil, and cook until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain, and mash.
3. In a large bowl, mix mashed potatoes, cream cheese, sour cream, milk, onion salt, and pepper. Transfer to a large casserole dish.
4. Cover, and bake for 50 minutes in the preheated oven.
Broccoli Cheese Casserole
INGREDIENTS
* 1/2 cup uncooked long-grain rice
* 6 slices bacon
* 1 large onion, chopped
* 1 (10 ounce) package chopped frozen broccoli, thawed
* 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup
* 1 cup milk
* 1 (16 ounce) jar processed cheese sauce
DIRECTIONS 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. In a saucepan bring 1 cup water to a boil. Add rice and stir. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
3. Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain, crumble and set aside. Saute onions in bacon drippings over medium heat.
4. In a 9x13 inch baking dish combine cooked rice, bacon, onions, broccoli, soup, milk and cheese sauce.
5. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until golden brown.

INGREDIENTS * 4 slices bacon, chopped
* 1/4 cup chopped onion (optional)
* 1 (15 ounce) can stewed tomatoes
* 4 (15 ounce) cans green beans
DIRECTIONS
1. Fry the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until browned and crisp. Drain off all but a thin coating of the grease. Add onions to the skillet; cook and stir until browned, about 5 minutes. Mix in tomatoes, stirring to remove any stuck on bits of bacon from the bottom of the skillet. Drain two cans of the beans, leave the liquid in the other two; pour into the skillet. Cook and stir until heated through
