Has anyone heard or knows of a chicken recipe which uses coke (cola variety!) as an ingredient?!

Question: yes I have and I'm linking the coca cola recipes site in the source box below.

Answers: yes I have and I'm linking the coca cola recipes site in the source box below.

I don't know of a chicken recipie, but years ago someone treated me to Coca Cola cookies. It makes sense since Cola has enormous amounts of corn syrup and sugar.

yes it can be used to tenderize the meat.so what do you think it is doing to your insides

Here is an easy recipe that uses cola. It sort of mimics a "sweet & sour chicken" type dish.

Chicken breasts
1 sm. bottle ketchup
1 can Coke
1 onion, sliced
1 c. rice
1 green pepper, cut in strips
Salt and pepper to taste

Mix all together. Cover with aluminum foil. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

I love to use cola when I make my easter ham... it makes a wonderful, sweet glaze on the outside! There are recipes that use ginger ale and even root beer on ham.

On another note, why is it that so many folks on this site are so eager to throw in their two cents as to when products are bad for you? Wait, let me go back and re-read your question. Yes, that is what I thought. As far as I can tell, you were asking for help with a recipe and you weren't asking for the effects of cola on the body human.

I'm sort of tired of the righteous comments when they aren't sought after. I absolutely agree that regular cola is extremely harmful to organs and teeth and I never condone drinking it. But, I'm not here to convert anyone... particularly someone who isn't asking for my opinion on the matter. Furthermore, much like cigarettes, I believe you would have to either be an infant or an invalid to not know that cola is pretty much not recommended by the healthcare community.

I really don't mean to be rude... it's just an observation.

Good luck with the chicken!
