Can one use evaporated milk in a fish chowder cooked in the crockpot?!
Answers: My new chowder recipe is calling for evaporated milk. My slowcooker book says not to use milk---cream of... soups are best. How about evaporated milk?
I make corn chowder in the crock pot all the time and I use whole milk and evaporated. I also have a friend who uses cream soups and Sweetened condensed milk! I say evaporated will be fine. Never hurt us and the chowder always comes out great!
no you may not. that would be against the kosher laws regarding food and cooking. you must never mix milk and meat together.
i would go with what your recipe is callilg for it it dosn't turn out right then next time you knowto use no milk! good luck
There is no reason not to use evaporated milk in a slow cooker. Not sure what kind you have but that seems like a strange restriction.
Fish chowder cooks in 30 minutes at the most. Why would you cook fish all day? It'll be mush.
