How long will cookies stay soft?!
Answers: I made cookies for my husband who is deployed. I put them in ziploc bags and put a slice of bread in the bag with the cookies to absorb the moisture. How long will they stay fresh like this? I sent the package on Dec 3rd and he still has not received the package as of today Dec 16th. (I think it is just taking a little longer because of the holidays)
My husband and I both served in the Navy and were deployed on Aircraft Carriers. Sometimes it took a month to get our packages. My husband used to get cookies from his Grandma the same way you sent them (in a Ziploc with a piece of bread). Worked like a charm! Your cookies should be just fine!
Happy Holidays!
I honestly don't know but I only keep mine about 3 to 4 days
depending on the recipe they usually stay soft for a week, give or take a day or two. Next time put a carrot cut in half the long way in the bag.
With the bread and the air sucked out, the cookies could stay soft for at least 2 weeks. When my boyfriend was deployed to Iraq a few years ago, it was right after the invasion and they hadn't really set up the mail system. I sent some cookies that took almost a month to get to him. But I did the same thing with the bread and sucking out the air and he said that they were still okay. Just a little broken up from the trip.
Hopefully yours get over there soon!!
Well it depends how you bake them. Unless you are going to eat them right away, I suggest taking them out when their pretty doughy so they stay soft, chewy and moist for longer!!!
It depends on the cookie composition. Most will harden as
soon as they cool and others will stay soft due to a high fat
content. Dont worry, he will like them anyway.
