How does this menu sound for a teenager's birthday party?!
Answers: Pizza, mashed potatoes, coconut cake, gelato, burgers and veggie burgers, french fries, chips and cookies, soda, fruit salad and sparkling cider. I know, it's a lot of sugar and unhealthy stuff, so please, also, any good healthy but good-tasting recipes?
You could probably omit the mashed potatoes. They don't really seem to go with anything, unless they are a particular favorite of the birthday teen, otherwise, looks good! And I agree, if you want to add to it, add some fresh veggies!! B
Carrot Sticks!
good as hell
sounds great teenagers dont want healthy veggi soup and salad or anything they want junk food this is a good selection of food.
sounds like weird combos to me.
maybe put out a platter of crudite's ( raw veggies ) and a light dip
but everything else sounds great for a party for any age !!!
sounds really good and don't worry at that age they still will burn the sugar and fat off. although i'm not sure about the coconut cake, i suggest you make sure the kids like coconut.
A veggie tray with veggie dip is always a party favorite! Gotta balance it out a bit.
hmm I'd say... Add in some cheese and crackers. and pretzels. Mmm pretzels
i think it sounds good
but im a teenager and we are pretty big on veggies now
so u could serve like a veggie platter with like some ranch that would be good
Celery and peanut butter is the best!!!
omit the mash potatoes,,,
buffalo wings
get a veggie tray with some dip.
fruit juices everyelse sounds good.
I think it is a good idea. There is plenty variety. Just make sure you cater for the vegetarians in the group as well as there usually is one person. I think the mash potatoes has to go. I don't think it is good party food. It is more of a dinner food.
A good idea is to do a barbeque. There is so much you can do with a bbq (eg stir fry, sausages, steak etc.,....) teenagers love it. Trust me. :)
i would get rid of the mash potatoes and replace it with chicken wigs or sushi ( :
If you can deal with a messy kitchen, buy pre-made individual pizza crusts at a local bakery. Have all the fixings and let the kids make their own. They will like to customize their pizzas plus you know what they are doing!
wow im totally drooling, maybe you can get in some pretzels, or some quaker oats granola bars, those are really good i eat like ten a day...tee hee....well theres kashi bars but those are yuck!
* Ants on a log — Spread peanut butter on celery sticks and top with raisins.
* Banana ice — Peel several very ripe bananas, break them into 1-inch pieces, and freeze the pieces in a sealed plastic bag. Just before serving, whirl the pieces in the blender with a small amount of water or juice. Serve right away. Add berries for a different flavor or top with fruit or nuts.
* Mini pizzas — Spoon pizza sauce onto half a bagel, English muffin, or mini pita. Top with low-fat mozzarella cheese and your favorite veggies and toast or bake at a low setting until the cheese is melted and the bagel is crispy.
* Healthy ice pops — Freeze fresh, unsweetened 100% juice in ice pop molds or ice cube trays.
* Low-fat pita and hummus — Warm a pita in the oven on low, then cut it into small triangles. Dip it in a tasty, low-fat hummus. Hummus is available in yummy flavors like garlic and spicy red pepper.
* Happy trails mix — Combine 1 cup whole-grain toasted oat cereal with 1/4 cup chopped walnuts and 1/4 cup dried cranberries for a healthy trail mix.
No mashed potatoes thats totally weird. Everything else is fine!
You could make strawberry smoothies. There realy good and aren't all that bad. You could make chocolate strawberries,Icecream isn't all that bad compared to alot of other junk.Fruit is a healthy snack and the varieties are endless. You can serve it like it is or with a mixture peanut butter and crackers or cheese and crackers.
I'd get rid of the mashed potoatoes, that's kind of weird...pasta salad is always good...and of course a veggie platter is always a hit, as long as you have good ranch dressing :)
lol mann i wish i got that for my 14nth bday...maybe i'll ask for that on my 15....anyways i think those are a great menu i love it gosh she/he is lucky.....i think you should put in borwnies than i think that would be awsome....!
have fun
i have teen aged boys i would dump the mashed potatoes and fries and go with a good veggie and dip platter and a nacho dip platter and a spinach dip in a pumpernickel loaf there friends love this cause its fun eaten food and good for then i think you have a great menu set up
uh sound like a vegatarien thats gone junk food crazy
lol
Hmmm........... How bout a veggie platter with dip in the middle and or lite and dainty finger sandwiches? they're pretty good!
You can add a taco buffet as well. I know when we entertain the college students, we do tacos fixings (refried beans, lettuce, toms, cheese, hard shells, tostada shells, flour torts), and grilled chicken fajitas meat. We have done the beef but the majority of kids today are getting more health conscience and partake in chicken more than beef. We never have the fajita meat left over and rarely the taco meat. Quick, simple, cheap and healthy.
I worked in a middle school for years, and believe me, kids will choose veggies over junk food every time, if given a choice! For your teen's party, add a tray of raw veggies, with lots of Ranch dressing, make the pizza's with more veggies, and 1/2 the cheese (the kids won't notice the difference), don't add whipped cream to the fruit salad, mixed fruit is great on it's own (especially if there are cherries in it), or pour some sparkling apple cider over it - the kids will think this is so special! If you are also serving burgers, only offer chips or fries, not both, you will be doing them a favor (besides, with the fresh veggie tray they won't miss it one bit) ! Instead of pop or cider, do a more grown-up thing - get a big punch bowl and make a punch out of fruit juices and sparkling cider, and float scoops of sherbet in it - the kids will love this, especially if served out of fancy glasses (you can find pretty fancy plastic ones these days)! This will fill your teen's wish list of foods, and be much healthier without even being noticed. The cake - - you have to have cake on a birthday, no matter how old you are, so forget about changing that!! Instead of ice cream with it - how about frozen yogurt, or sherbet? Both taste wonderful, and don't have nearly the fat that ice cream does - but did I mention - don't leave out the cake, it wouldn't be a birthday without a great big slice!! Enjoy!
I'm a teen too and we love junk food a raw veggy trays. get a different desert from coconut cake, or ask and see if they like coconut. try a chocolate cake or cheesecake.
