Dear Judy,
I cook mine till it is soft and tenderthen I add herbs and spices that I like.

When posting in Food and Drink you do not need to begin each question with "Poll". There is a whole other category for Polls.

Brown rice is fantastic with veggies added to it. I love chopped up broccoli in mine. But try some different seasonings such as Mrs. Dash, there are some wonderful varieties.

You could also try making it with Chicken Broth rather than water.

Instead of cooking it in water use chicken or beef stock, also add a little salt.

Get some boullioun cubes or granules, and put them in the water when you are cooking the rice. Tastes much better, that's how I got my family to make the switch from white to brown. Good luck!

try substituting a chicken or beef broth for the water...or add small pieces of diced veggies ( carrots, onion, celery ) to your nearly cooked rice

No worries on the typing.

At first I always added salty stuff to my brown rice. Low sodium soy sauce in a pinch (I used to eat a lot of brown rice when I was really health conscious). After I branched out I used strong flavors like sauteed garlic and onions then sautee shrimp in that or sometimes just chicken and even eggs (like a friend rice). Veggies galore, especially carrot/pea combo. Raw scallions on top always do a great trick because of the rawness. I love brown rice plain now and got my kids to sort of not like white as much (big challenge there) but bottom line is, add healthy stuff and you will eventually feel so dang good about what you are eating that you won't mind any unusual taste :-)

slap some butter on that! And some parmesean cheese. Oh yeah.

By the way, your explanation of your bad typing didn't help anything.

Cook your rice in water with spicy tomatoes(canned diced tomatoes with green chilies), onion, chicken broth, diced tomatoes, lemon juice, lime juice, garlic.

Cook it in chicken broth instead of water and before adding it to the broth saute it (raw) in a little butter and onions. Add that rice mixture to the broth and cook it.

Who cares about the poll.

No one goes with it and just answers.

Try it with beef stock and some red wine vinegar for some taste. My family eats half brown rice and white rice so im used to it with just plain water.

I prefer brown rice over white rice, but my family does not agree with me. I tend to cook brown rice when I am serving something with lots of sauce or gravy, that way the taste of the rice is masked. I use white rice when it is something lighter (chicken and mushrooms in white wine saucer) or little/no sauce (mixed vegetables and grilled chicken).

Cook your rice in broth instead of plain water. Like this the rice will absorb the flavor. You might also want to try adding vegetables after the rice is cooked.

I use chicken or vegetable stock instead of water, and I usually throw in some herbs (whatever I have that sounds good at that moment!).

Here's a great one-pot brown rice supper:

1t. butter or olive oil
1 c. brown rice, rinsed
2 c. stock (or stock and water)
1 c. chopped fresh or frozen vegetables (broccoli, mushrooms, peas, etc.)
grated fresh parmesan or romano cheese

Heat the butter or oil. Add the rice and saute until fragrant (about a minute or two). Add the stock and/or water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer, cover, and cook for about 35-40 minutes, or until the liquid is almost absorbed. Place the vegetables on top of the rice, re-cover, and continue to cook until all liquid is absorbed and the vegetables are crisp-tender. Sprinkle cheese over the vegetables, remove from heat, and let stand, covered, for about 5 minutes.

season it, or mix it with something

i cook brown rice with either chicken or beef broth, add garlic, parsley, and seasoning. tastes good...

Use your main course, if there is one, to guide which broth to use.....chicken for poultry, beef for red meats....vegetable broth's another option too !! Try browning the rice for a few minutes in melted butter before adding your broth of choice....browning white rice similarly works well too.
Have a "rice" day !
