Shank half ham is meatier than the shank portion. I prefer the butt ham personally but shank is cheaper because it has more bone but in the long run...I would say you are paying for part of that bone even though it is cheaper. The half shank is better than the shank portion if you have to choose between the two shanks. Happy cooking!

No, turkey and or ham is the best for making Christmas Dinner.

Personally, a Chicago Deep Dish Pizza is my recommendation. You don't have to cook it, it's a meal in and of itself, it's cheaper than making dinner, and there's more time for you and your family.

You'll have a big 'ol bone in the Shank. Better to get the butt half. Yet, shank will be a bit cheaper by pound.

I like the butt....also prime rib... and smoke turkey... I think the butt is more tender.... and has a better taste... I also like a brown sugar and mustard sauce bake on top ... very good..you are making me hungry girl!!!!

Ostrich shank, no. Lamb shank feeds four to six. Veal shank, stuffed, buy two. Pig shank, its called ham. Glazed very good. Beef shank. Oso Buco. LOTS of work.
