Mmm, nachos.
Ingredients:
1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 cup salsa
6 ounces tortilla chips
2 cups Monterey Jack cheese -- shredded
Directions:
Brown the ground beef in a skillet; drain well. Stir in salsa. Arrange chips in large shallow ovenproof baking dish. Spoon meat mixture over chiips. Top with cheese. Bake in preheated 400F degree oven, 2 minutes or until cheese is melted. Top with dollops of additional salsa and sour cream.
theres a few ways you can do it:
buy nacho cheese at grocery store, heat in microwave as directed, then pour over chips.
or jest melt cheese on chips.
go to grocery store, buy tortilla chips, buy nacho cheese.
go home, warm nacho cheese, pour cheese over tortilla chips.
:) yummmm
Put tortilla chips on a pan. Add cheese atleast. You can also add basically anything you put in tacos, meat, beans, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, hot sauce, whatever you like... Throw them in the oven for only like 5 minutes at like 400 degrees. Nachos...
It depends what kind of nachos you want. If you just want plain, everyday nachos, grate up some cheddar cheese. Cover your chips with the cheese and put it in the microwave for as long as it take tomelt it. You may want to have sour cream and/or salsa to make this simple meal a little more interesting.
If you're looking for a little more awesome, you could add cut up dill pickles, onions, tomatoes, peppers and whatever else you feel like topping it off with. You can put these toppings on after you put the cheese overtop the chips.
Good luck nacho eater!
Nacho Chips
Velveeta Cheese
Salsa
Cut the Velveeta in to 2 inch cubes and drop them in a sauce pan over medium heat. Add the salsa to the melted cheese to taste. Pour over the nacho chips or keep in a bowl for dipping.
You can also add spiced hamburger or chili to the cheese. You may want to cover chips with warm refried beans, lettuce, fresh cut tomatos, onions and jalapenos. Then smother in cheese sauce.
Put a layer of tortilla chips on a baking sheet. Layer with chili, jalapenos, onions, black olives, shredded cheddar and jack.... Repeat step and back at 350 until cheese is melted.
First, I make some ground beef, using a taco seasoning packet that you can find at the grocery store( if you don't have that, use chili powder, onion powder, and a dash of garlic powder ). I also open a can of refried beans and flavor them with some chili powder and onion powder. Then I use round or triangle tortilla chips, spread about one layer thin on a cookie sheet or plate, and sprinkle the beans then the ground beef on them. I cover with shredded cheddar cheese, then you can bake the cookie sheet at 350, or put the plate int the microwave, until the cheese is melted. Then add the toppings you want: onion, tomato, olives, sour cream, guacamole....YUM!
Cheese and chips melt cheese put on chips
here is how I make my nachos:
1 lb hamburger
1 bag tortilla chips
1 packet taco seasoning
1 can nacho cheese (or con queso dip works also)
1 can black olives (drained)
1 jar salsa
1 c. sour cream
1 can refried beans
shredded cheese for tacos
optional items:
sliced jalapenos
shredded lettuce
diced tomatoes
chopped green onions
Brown hamburger. Without draining grease, stir in taco seasoning. May have to add a little water if too dry. On a large platter, spread out tortilla chips until bottom of platter is covered. Heat refried beans in microwave to make them easier to spread. Spread beans over chips. Spread hamburger on top of beans. Spread salsa on top of hamburger. Next spread on nacho cheese. Spread sour cream over cheese and top with shredded cheese. Sprinkle black olives over top of cheese. Next if desired add shredded lettuce, tomatoes, jalapenos, and green onions. Use extra chips to help eat nachos.
Homemade chips: Cut corn tortillas in quarters...fry in corn oil until crisp...drain on paper towel and season with chili powder and lemon pepper.
Queso-Melt cubed Velveeta and a can of Rotel...serve as dip....or drizzel over top and add a scoop of warmed refried beans, sour creme, salsa, black/green olives and diced onions.
Ok this is the BEST way to make nachos... and it's NOT just cheese over chips.... here goes...
I usually make them in tin foil "bowls" for easy clean up after.... I take two pieces of tin foil one on top of the other and then push them inside of a mixing bowl to form it and roll down the sides all around... that way you end up with a tin foil "boat" kind of thing... one for each person...
THEN... Brown up your ground meat ( about a pound ) with either store bought taco seasoning or salt, pepper, lots of chili powder and some cumin ( that's a very popular Mexican spice ) ... when you're browning it keep "chopping" with your spatula to make it taco textured... when it's done you can turn the heat on super low and let it sit... or even turn the heat off...
In another pan dump in a can of refried beans and a jar of medium salsa ( or hot or mild depending on your taste )... warm that and stir it together....
Then arrange big "restaurant" style chips in each foil boat trying to keep them from just laying flat... you want them to stand up... you can use one scoop of the refried on the bottom so you can stick them in if you want... then sprinkle taco sauce ( comes in a jar ) lightly over the edges of the chips and put the boats on a cookie sheet and then in the oven on about 400 to get the taco sauce cooked onto the chips... take out the sheet and spoon more refried in the middle and then stick more chips in and taco sauce and back in the oven... take out and spoon over your browned meat... then add your shredded nacho cheese ( not that crappy saucy stuff... real shredded chedder )... back in the oven... melt the cheese....
Then top with a dollop of sour cream, sliced black olives, sliced jalape?os, chopped tomato and onion ( mixed in a bowl with a little olive oil )... and some guacamole...
EAT EM UP QUICK!!
DAMN they're good that way... : P
Nachos are super easy ... Starting with plain salted tortilla chips is best... then select your preferred toppings ( It is nice if you have a platter that has compartments for each topping, or if you prefer, you can just randomly sprinkle the toppings over the chips) Toppings can be any of the following:
* ground beef or ground turkey cooked with taco seasoning *chunky salsa *shredded cheddar cheese *melted Velveeta or American cheese *Guacamole *Sour cream
If you want to sprinkle the toppings on, start with ONLY the meat and shredded cheese. Using an oven safe container, heat the nachos until the cheese melts. Then transfer to your serving plate. Enjoy!
