Bratwurst and Sauerkraut in a crock pot without browning first?!
Please don't suggest different German recipes because it's late and the brats, sauerkraut and applesauce are all I bought for this dish.
Thank you so much for helping a frantic mom whom thought I could just throw them together and be done!
Answers: Can anyone tell me if I can throw bratwurst and sauerkraut in a crock pot and 4 hours later it be done? My daughter has an international feast tomorrow at school. I had to come up with something from Germany. I just bought 3 lbs brats and a bag of sauerkraut. I am hoping I can throw it in the crock pot before I leave for work, come home at noon and drop it off at her school. Can this be done or do I have to boil or brown them first?

Yes, it will be done just fine. Most sausage--smoked, polish, brauts--is precooked. If yours is fresh, that's okay, too. You can actually, if you're okay with the idea, put it on low tonight and leave it on all night.
This site has some great ones.
Browning will dramaticly improve the flavor.
