WOW! I feel your pain. I'm on crutches this holiday, so simple makes sense. If you want to have a "real" holiday meal - cooked at home - one of the easiest special meals is a standing rib roast. All you have to do is put it in the oven and wait. Fabulous, impressive, and one of the easiest meals ever!
frozen lasagna, garlic bread, salad & brownies
Think casseroles - that way you can just pop them in the oven & let them bake. You won't have to stand over the stove cooking. Bake a ham or turkey as well.......
Hope you feel better soon. In the meantime I suggest you take it easy on yourself and get one of those dinner deals from your local supermarket. They usually involve a turkey or ham and all the trimmings.
There's always next year!
If you don't want to do any cooking at all - eat out!
Seriously, there are grocery stores that can provide complete, fully-cooked dinners for occasions like Thanksgiving and Christmas. I used one once when my wife was ill and I didn't want to cook and it turned out very nice!
It was a complete Turkey dinner and included dessert. I am sure you could also request a Ham if you preferred. I don't know about the steaks you mentioned.
Bummer! That's no fun at Christmas. Perhaps your husband could grill the steaks. Your steamed veggies would be quick and easy. The breads and pies. Hum. Too much on one leg. Our local steak house has great bread and will sell rolls. So that might work - to get them the day prior. Could buy desserts. Or buy cut up fruit and make fruit dip. That works for dessert or for a snack too. I linked a nice collection of different fruit dips. Hope your leg gets better fast!
Order food online, some places sell complete dinners.
Try sitting in a high chair.
CALL AND ORDER A COMPLETE MEAL FROM YOUR LOCAL GROCERY STORE OR A HONEY BAKED HAM STORE. THEY DO IT ALL.
