Is it enough to use granulated brown sugar instead of packed brown sugar in chocolate chip cookies?!
Answers: I really don't understand your question. There is only one kind of brown sugar. It comes in light brown or dark brown and most recipes call for light brown. It comes in a box or bag and is with the regular white sugar. If a recipe calls for packed brown sugar, that means that you pack the sugar in the measuring cup. To pack it put in a little bit and pack it down with your spoon or your hand and put some more and pack it down until you get the exact measurement. In other words, lets say a recipe calls for a cup of brown sugar. If you just pour the sugar from the box into the cup to the 1 cup measurement and then you use your spoon to smash it down or pack it, you will then have probably 1/2 half cup of sugar and you will have to add some more to make the one cup. When it is packed down, it should fall out of the measuring cup like a brick, all stuck together. Hope this helps.
They're the same thing. By packed they mean you have to pack it in the measuring cup to get the right amount. Mash it down until you can't anymore, then add more and repeat until you get the amount you need.
You "pack" it into the measuring cup to get an accurate measure. Brown sugar is brown sugar dark or light.
