Can you help me with my pie crust??!
But instead of using 3/4 stick of butter, I used 3/4 CUP of butter. I now have way too much butter in it. I added some more flour about 1/2 cup more, but now all the ratios are outta whack. i.e. the water.
So can you help me to figure out how much more water and flour I should add to make the ratios even again?
Answers: I used this recipe: http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/recs/52...

A stick of butter is a half cup. You've doubled the amount of butter, now you need to double the rest of the ingredients. Here's the list:
1 cup All Purpose Flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 Stick Butter
1 1/2 tablespoon Shortening
1/8 cup Ice Water
So, if you've already added in another 1/2 cup of flour, add in another 1/2 cup to get to 2 cups. Add another 1/8 cup water to get to 1/4 cup (if you haven't added any additional water). Add in another 1 1/2 tablespoon shortening (if you haven't added any more in). You'll be fine, you'll just have twice as much pie crust. Make a second pie and give it to a friend/family member. Good luck! :)
I would focus on the consistency or start over. Add a little water. It's going to be time consuming. Personally, I would just start over but if you don't have enough ingredients to start over then I would just work on getting the right consistency and for that be methodical and slow. Add a little bit. Mix. Patience is the key. Get a method that is deliberate.
4 tsp salt ttl -6tbsp shortening ttl-1/2 cup water ttl-add 3 1/2 cup more flour .
1 cup All Purpose Flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 Stick Butter
1 1/2 tablespoon Shortening
1/8 cup Ice Water
you used 6 oz of butter( 3/4 cp) when you needed 6 tablespoons of butter
you will need to raise everything by 3 times
