Does anyone have some easy, yet delicious apetizer recipe(s) that I could make for Christmas Day?!
Answers: I tend to be a "bowl of pretzels" type, but we're going to my sister's-in-law and I want to bring something good. Thanks!
Try these easy and delicious stuffed mushrooms
Large whole mushrooms
Progresso Italian breadcrumbs
butter
olive oil
oregano
Buy large whole mushrooms. Figure on 3 - 4 per person
Carefully wipe and remove stalk so that the mushroom cavity is clean.
Calculate 1 teaspoon of bread crumbs for 2 mushrooms. Measure breadcrumbs into large bowl. Add about 1 tablespoon oregano to mixture.
In microwave, melt 1/2 stick of butter or margarine.
Pour into breadcrumb mixture and stir well.
Hold mushroom cap in hand and gently stuff with breadcrumbs
Use a glass or metal baking pan. Grease well with Pam or margarine/butter. Lay mushrooms with breadcrumb side up onto pan. Use olive oil lightly over mushrooms.
You can transport these to your sister in laws and then bake at her house
Bake at 350 degrees about 20 - 25 minutes until breadcrumbs are browning.
Serve on tray.
cheese ball and crackers
cream cheese,accent,green onion,ham
just chop, mix and form into a ball
put crackers around the edge
I was just in the same place you are in here are the options I was thinking through:
1. You can bring flowers or a candle for your sis in law. I also read someone bringing hand lotion for her.
2. There are a lot of cute candy like peppermint bark that are festive.
3. Coffee beans that are unique.
4. Wine or Champagne is a classic hit.
5. You can buy some various cheeses and bread or pita. Also humus, but not everyone likes humus.
As for actual foods there are a lot of bite size frozen food like spinach rolls, potatoe skins, artichoke dips, guacamole, mango salsa, olives, veggies.
6. Nuts
7. You can also do fondue and chocolate cover various things like pretzels fruit etc.
Any little thing that strikes you like your sis would be great. I am sure she is just excited to see you and your hubby.
Merry Christmas!
you can buy a jar of hot pepper jelly in the condiment aisle of the grocery store and pour it over a brick of cream cheese...Yumm........I don't like spicy food and this is awesome!!
You can buy marinated artichoke hearts in a jar, chop fine,
combine with 1 c. mayo, 1 c. parmesan cheese, bake @ 400 for about 20 mins or unti brown. Serve w/crackers for both. Yummy
You should bring a bowl of pretzels...
after all its President Bush's favorite snack!
(Why not send him some for a special Xmas gift!)
