Did anyone make a gingerbread house for Christmas?!
Answers: Yes from a kit from Costco, it was easy and fun to make, don't think we will be eating it though!
No me made a gingerbread train going through candyland.
yes , my son and i did last night
Not this year, but I have in the past.
Each time it was hard work - more or less a labor of love - challenging, fun AND a mess!
Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it!

Yes, that is my real last name!
No. I did it for years when my children were young. Time consuming and labour intensive. None of us seem to like gingerbread anyway. But, it looked pretty.
About 7 years ago, when I was planning to do this for my first grandchild, both of my sons said, on separate occasions; Mom, why do you want to do this, I don't like gingerbread? Good question, tradition I suppose but then my other son asked me the same question, then I thought "why do I do it? I don't like gingerbread either".
Well now, 3 more grandchildren:
Now, it's a yule log, chocolate cake, chocolate icing, some buttercream & some meringue. Never anything left over.
Not in the last handful of years.
Not this year : (. The stepson isnt coming till after Christmas. Oh well. Next year!
The first Christmas after I got married I started the tradition of making a gingerbread house. My brother, sister, and I are all very close, and the four of us all get together one evening a couple of weeks before Christmas and make one. We have a blast! When my siblings finally get married I hope to include their spouses and eventually our children, too.
YES SEVERAL
I work in a Nursing Home, we have 148 seniors in care.
We ( the staff) baked the Gingerbread and constructed the houses.
The seniors decorated them.
We used them as a Gingerbread Village display for their Christmas party.
I've never seen so many different finished houses, though all were the same size, no two looked alike.
