Walk me through this one.. how do u make fried potatoes?!
Answers: i dont cook lol.. i have never made fried potatoes and im attempting to make my boyfriend breakfast lol.
start with already baked potatoes or pierce raw ones and microwave 5-7 mins or until feel soft to touch.. slice or chunk them up and fry in a nonstick pan in 2-3 tbs butter or marg. I like to slice onion in . add salt and pepper to taste. fry to golden brown easy
i don't really know that much but i know one thing really well I LIKE EGGS lols well with fried potatoes i think you oll them in flower or something like that but experement a bit
go wild lols just try your hardest and make up anything ?
I NEVER fry potatoes anymore. I buy the frozen ones, then bake them on a stone. They are just as good (to my family) as fried without all the grease. I also do tator tots that way... but that's not what you asked.
When I fried (15-20 years ago), I would slice the potatoes to the size I wanted, then carefully put them in a pot of hot grease and fry them until they were golden brown... be careful... I almost burned a house down one time when I turned the burner on to heat my oil (frying okra) and a neighbor came to the door... I went out side... forgot about the heating grease and soon found smoke billowing out of my house...
Like I said, I prefer to bake them. :-)
I DO still like the way Augie (below) fries potatoes. I rarely do it, but they are really good. Especially with onions.
That reminds me of when we use to camp... we would put onions (a little butter or oil), potatoes and fry them... sometimes we do that (cut the potatoes in small squares and after they are cooked a while, we added breakfast sausage and then scrambled eggs into the whole mixture. This is really good by itself or on tortillas (as a burrito). We love it morning or night. Man... I'm gonna have to make these. I haven't made them since I became an empty nester. Thanks for the reminder.
cut about 4 potatoes into small pieces either triangular or cubed, in a skillet pour about 3 tablespoons of oil and put in the potatoes, add oil as neede use olts of salt and pepper. i use fresh garlic and onions and green peppers if ya wanna get fancy or you can put easy eggs on top of the potatoes when their done and serve em in a bowl
depends on what type of fried potatoes, chips are made by cutting the potato into chips, and deep frying them in hot oil. You know when they are cooked as they will float, and be a nice colour.
Fried potatoes or saute, you need to cook the potatoe first, boil in water, stick a knife through, when soft they are done. But be careful not to overcook, as they turn to mush.
when cooked, drain them from the pan, and leave to cool, pat them with kitchen towel, to get rid of all moisture. Any water will make oil splatter when you you cook them.
When cold, slice them up, and gently fry in oil, in a frying pan, oil needs to be hot. Remove to kitchen towel, to drain excess oil.
Sprinkle with salt and serve
here's what you do..... peel the potatoes. if it is just the two of you i would peal at least 4 or 5. they'll be good so you'll want to have enough. pour some oil ( whatever you have will work so dont worry) in a pan and turn the heat on med. high. then cut the potatoes up into chunks. i always slice the potatoe in half then lay each half flat and cut them that way. if you have any onions you can cut those up however you want and add them.. i suggest doing that too! then add the potatoes but be careful cuz the oil needs to be hot.. dont get splattered. fry them up and you'll notice them turning brown. you will know when to turn them over. oh yeah add salt and pepper too!
The easiest way to do it, I do it atleast twice a week, is as follows:
Averaging 1.5 potatoes per person Rinse, but don't peel, then cut into bite size pieces. In a large skillet over medium high heat use about 1/4 stick of butter or margarine and add enough vegetable oil to coat bottom of pan. add potatoes, then chop up a softball sized onion and add to potatoes. Add salt, pepper, italian seasoning and garlic to taste. We love garlic, so we add a whole lot.
With the potatoes cut small, the cooking should really only take a few minutes. Keep stirring so it doesn't burn, cook til tender, but don't overcook.
Cottage Fried Potatoes
Yield: Makes 4 to 6 servingsIngredients: Canola oil
3to 4 russet potatoes (about 1-1/2 pounds), cut into wedges
Coarse salt
Preparation: 1.Preheat oven to warm. Line 2 large baking sheets with paper towels; set aside.
2.Pour oil into large deep skillet or wok to 1-inch depth. Attach deep-fry or candy thermometer to side of skillet, making sure bulb is submerged in oil but not touching bottom of skillet. Heat oil over high heat until thermometer registers 390°F.
3.Carefully slide 8 to 10 potato wedges into skillet. (Do not crowd skillet or oil will lose too much heat.) Reduce heat to medium-high; cook about 4 minutes or until potatoes are deep golden brown and skins are crispy, turning gently to separate wedges so that they cook evenly.
4.Carefully remove potatoes and arrange in single layer on baking sheet. Blot excess oil from potatoes. Place baking sheet in oven to keep potatoes warm.
5.Repeat steps 2 through 4 with remaining potatoes. Sprinkle potatoes with salt to taste. Serve hot.
You go to the store & the section where you buy butter & eggs is a green bag called "Simply Potatoes" & they come in sliced or shredded. I just had the sliced the other day for my Uncle & he thought they were from fresh potatoes.
I fried them in oleo & onions & they were very good.
Hey you can do this. See my very easy recipe for Southern Pan Fried Potatoes. I make them at least once a week. My boys love these. I added photos too, so you'll see what they look like too.
