Ingredients for tirimusu?!
Answers: where do you find the coffee liquor for the italian desert tirimusu? I'm begining to wonder if it even exists!! Is it possible to use a substitute and still have it turn out right?
There are loads of tiramisù recipes, but the classic Italian ones generally have the coffee (espresso or made with a moka) SEPARATE from the liqueur ingredient, which may vary: marsala, vermouth, cognac, brandy, amaretto... So you do NOT need a specific coffee liqueur at all, and there's a lot of flexibility in choosing which you want to use. The liqueur, in this case, should be mixed together with the creamy topping ingredients, with the cookies just soaked in the coffee.
You can also make it without any liqueur at all, just soaking the "savoiardi" (ladyfingers) cookies in the coffee (sugared or not, to taste). They should be moist but not soggy.
There are numerous tiramisù recipes in English on this site:

I haven't really looked at them, so I can't tell you which might be the "best" or the most authentic. There's even one by Sophia Loren using orange liqueur.
Rum and coffee soaked ladyfingers works.
Yes, it exists. I have used it many times. It can usually be found at the better liquor stores and larger grocery stores. I HAVE substituted really good coffee and Bailey's Irish Cream... It is not as good, but it is a decent substitute...
