What is the best way to slow cook meatballs?!
Answers: What kind of sauce should we use and for how long should they be cooked? I assume that I'll be looking for the fully cooked meatballs today at the grocery store. Any kind of help would be appreciated as I am going to cook them for Christmas eve supper. Thanks!
This is a classic recipe. My Mom always made them this way. They have lots of flavor and a bit sweet & spicy:

Easy Crockpot Meatballs
From Diana Rattray,
Your Guide to Southern Food.
If you use your own homemade meatballs, brown them first in the oven or skillet.
INGREDIENTS:
1 bag frozen prepared meatballs
1 bottle (14 ounces) Ketchup
1 bottle (12 ounces) chili sauce (found next to ketchup in the grocery store)
1 jar (10 ounces) grape jelly
PREPARATION:
Put meatballs in slow cooker. Pour over remaining ingredients (I just dump them in, the jelly will melt as it heats) Heat on low until thoroughly heated through about 4 hours. Stir a few times during the cooking process to incorporate sauces.

EDIT:
Sorry, I should have said....the grape jelly sounds crazy but you don't taste it like you think. Seriously, once you make this, you'll always make this recipe! I think it helps the sauce thicken and stick on the meatballs and adds a touch of sweetness. It sounds gross, but it's a really good recipe! I promise! :) When my Mom told me how she made her famous meatballs (always disappeared at every party) I thought she was kidding about the grape jelly!
Also, I buy my meatballs at Costco. You can get them in a huge bag frozen. Really, really good. I like to keep them on hand to cook when I want too. I can grab a handful of meatballs out of the bag in the freezer and make spaghetti with meatballs any night of the week. Delicious!
crock pot ! works great!! make the meatballs using 2 lbs of assorted meat add 2 eggs 2 slices of bread cubed a good shaaking of pepper and salt and a onion cubed as well. make to your size then place in a crock pot, add either jarred sauce or make your own,( cut and onion 2 pieces of garlic 20 oz can of tomato sauce and finely chopped cilantro) poor into pot leave on low for a least five hours. good stuff.
In a slow cooker
spaghetti sauce and cook it all day in a crock pot, put itallion spices in sauce
You do not need to slow cook the fully cooked meatballs. Why make work for yourself?
A "slow cooker" crockpot seems reasonable for your slow cooking needs.
Ewww precooked meatballs? Why don't you make your own--guarantee they'll taste better and wont have fillers and other unknown ingredients. Just cook the homemade meatballs in some homemade tomato sauce. All you need is a can of plain tomato sauce with tomato pieces, garlic, salt, pepper, basil, and red pepper flakes for spice. It will be delicious!!

If you use just regular tomato sauce (without tomato chunks or meat chunks) and put them in a slow cooker, crock pot is the best brand. then turn the tempurature to low and let them cook for about 4-6 hours depending on the size of the meatballs and the size of the slow cooker then you sould have some very tasty meatballs! Trust me your patience will be rewarded! Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!, ? kayla5654
this is yum. If you want to do somthing different you use cranberry sause from a can and cocktail sauce it is like a sweet and sour meet ball
You could try honey and garlic BBQ sauce and put some pinneapple bits in it
I would do it slowly, in a Nessco, or crock pot. A Nessco will hold more if that matters.
Well, it really depends on how you are making them. You really did not specify if you are making them fresh or buying from the grocery store in the frozen food section. It also depends on what you are serving them with.
If you are hand making them (fresh ground beef) I would season them with whatever seasoning you usually would use that makes your dishes pop with flavor and cook them in a pan with low heat and turn them every so often to make sure they cook all the way threw. Once you have all of the meatballs cooked lay them on a napkin to get rid of the grease.
Make a sause. Now, depending if your having spagetti and meat balls, of course make spagetti sause. Once you have the spagetti sause on hand put it in a pan over the stove or "of course" use a crock pot. Put the meat balls in with the sause on what ever you are going to use and let them simmer on low heat so the flavor of the meat balls can blend and simmer with the sauce.
*Now if frozen, let them thaw out brown them in a pan and repeat the last step I mentioned. Less work to be done.
If you want to stick with regular frozen meatballs I use gravy. What you would do is get some "regular" meatballs thaw them out, fry them a little on the pan to give them a little color and crisp, make some homemade gravy or buy some gravy "regular brown gravy that is, heat it up put the meat balls in the gravy and let simmer. The instead of using regular spagetti noodles use egg noodles they are the perfect noodles for this recipe. It's so fast and so good you will wanna make it for more than just the holidays. GOOD LUCK!
