If you have 3 1/2 (16 ounce) packages of powered sugar, how many cups is that?!

Question: 16 X 3 is 48 oz. plus the half package (8 oz.), so 48 and 8 is 56. 56 divided by 8 (oz. in a cup), 7 cups.

According to gourmetsleuth.com, 16 oz (1 lb) of powdered sugar = 3.78 cups unsifted or 4.54 cups sifted.

FYI: For all you people who think weight can be converted to volume. It can't. VOLUME ounces are different than WEIGHT ounces.

Try looking at it this way: What would weigh more, a cup of lead pellets or a cup of feathers?

the answer is on the package..
All my confectioners sugar goes directly into air tight plastic containers.

About 7 cups

3.5 packages x 3.5 cups per package = 12 1/4 cups
