Baking a hard loaf of bread?!

Question: I have a lot of food allergies, so I get REALLY jelous when I see people eating out!! Yesterday, my friend bought a round loaf of bread that was hollowed out, and there was soup in the middle. I want this SOO badly! I know how to make the soup, but does anyone know a recipe for HARD bread that would contain the soup without leaking?

I am allergic to the following:
peanuts, nuts, shrimp, shellfish, beans, peas, and some spices.

The bread isn't actually hard, it just has a good solid crust. Pumpernickel is the bread usually used but any good crusty bread will do the trick. Just don't scoop out too much or the soup will soak right through.

The bread you are probably thinking about is a "Boule" it is a crunchy - not hard - bread with a dense inside to help hold just about any liquid - soup, stew, chile et. al. You can find them at most good quality bakeries.
