I don't have baking soda for Toll House Cookies. Can I substitute something?!
Answers: I thought about using baking powder but I don't know if it's a good idea.

It's probably the best substitute since both are leavening agents
Do you have any baking powder? It will do in a pinch since there is baking soda in the baking powder.
I don't think there is a substitute for baking soda.
You just might have to eat the chocolate chips alone....or go to the store.
I NEVER use baking soda even if the recipe calls for it. To me it leaves a bad aftertaste.
Baking powder is not the same, so don't substitute.
If you don't have the baking soda, I say just go on without it and I wouldn't be surprised if you also decide you will never use it again.
You really can't substitute baking soda. It's really important because it causes baked goods to rise and/or brown.
Sorry!
You could try replacing your all-purpose flour with self-rising flour, though.
Good luck and happy baking! =)
baking powder and baking soda are two totally different things. DON'T substitute.
Go to any grosery store and buy it. Its in evry sore you go, and cost not more than $3.
