Never heard that. I doubt it's true.

I found a calcium website that recommends adding calcium supplements to cocoa...so it seems that calcium & cocoa are okay. (website is below)

If you consume cocoa in large amounts (pretty impossible, unless you are a major cocoa addict!) then it can prevent the absorption of iron (website is also below):

"POLYPHENOLS: Phenolic acids, flavonoids, and tannins are all examples of polyphenols that, when consumed in high amounts, may lead to decreased iron absorption. Tea, coffee, cocoa, red wine, and some herbal teas are common foods that are rich in polyphenols. As with phytates, some of the inhibitory effects of these polyphenols can be overcome, at least partially, by using them with enhancers of iron absorption. "

Here's some more info. If you use NATURAL cocoa, then it HELPS the absorption of calcium:

"Natural Cocoa is a rich source of magnesium:
Magnesium helps with the formation of bone and teeth and assists in the absorption of calcium and potassium. Where calcium stimulates the muscles, magnesium is used to relax the muscles. It is further needed for cellular metabolism and the production of energy through its help with enzyme activity. It supports the muscles tone of the heart and assists in controlling Blood Pressure and Diabetes."

Excessive protein is the only thing that prevents absorption of calcium - and by excessive I mean like, 4 steaks a day or something like that. Those isolated soy protein powders can do the same though.
