How long does it take a 12 lb chicken took in the oven?!

Question: Cooking a chicken, the rule of thumb is:-

Make absolutely certain it is fully thawed (in the case of a frozen bird).

Be sure it hasn't got the giblets left inside it!

Assuming you've stuffed it with a traditional sage and onion stuffing, it is 20 minutes per pound, AND an additional 20 minutes to finish.

So your chicken would require 260 minutes, or in plain language 4 hours and 20 minutes.

At that weight are you sure it's a chicken and not a turkey?

No matter, it's exactly the same for a turkey anyway!

A 12 pound chicken is like a turkey, I'd cook it 3-3.5 hours at 325 degrees.

If you have a 12 lb chicken I would take a picture of it. You have one that is on steroids. Send it into the book of world records.
