How can I thaw a cheesecake quickly without ruining it?!
Answers: I forgot to take the cheesecake out to thaw before having it for dessert after tonight's dinner? How can I quickly thaw it without having it all soggy or without the possibly of it making me sick if I microwave it on defrost? Any ideas? Thanks!
Here's something I did before...heat a plate that is large enough to hold whatever the cake is sitting on. I put my plate in scalding hot water. Then, sit the cake on that (keeping it on the cardboard or in the pan it comes on). The warmth of the plate should be enough to defrost the cake without messing it up. I had a friend put hers in the microwave but it got gross. You could also put it in a warmed oven for a few minutes but don't have the oven on and don't leave it too long. Good luck.
you gotta go with the microwave, just use very low power like 20% for only 20-40 seconds at a time, feel it and poke it with a fork to check inside temp.
i wonder what my moves are
sure...if it's frozen.
Let it thaw on the counter ... you're better off serving a partially frozen cheesecake than ruining it by heating it.
Or choose something else for dessert tonight.
I would save it for tomorrow. Defrost it in the fridge just to be safe.
Low power microwave is a good idea.
Put it in the fridge. It'll say cold, therefore not go bad, but will dethaw because the temp in the fridge is above 32 degrees.
I would slice into small size portions and thaw on indiv plates on the counter. Overdue the garnish (berries, sauce) so the small size doesn't stand out and invite all for seconds.
