Roast beef?!
Thankyou,
Merry Christmas
Answers: I am cooking a giant rib roast beef (6.17 lb) tomarrow on my farberware electric open hearth broiler and want to know how long to cook it to get it rare.
Thankyou,
Merry Christmas
Time realy depends on temperature. A roast of that size I would say 275 for an hour and a half. But check it periodicaly with a probe thermomater. 110 degrees will get you rare it will cary over cook to 120 degrees.
I have no idea what the Farberware thing is, but I'll bet it came with a book that has really good advice. I find that the gimmicky things are not good for cooking serious food. You're better off roasting it in the oven where you can use an in oven meat thermometer.
I found this in my Temperature Chart for Beef. Hope it helps you. Merry Christmas!
Weight -- 7 to 8.5 pounds
Oven Temp.-- 450°/325° F.
Cooking Time--1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours
Meat Thermometer Reading--120° F for Rare
Check roast to see if center is bright red/pinkish toward the exterior portion.
At 320 degrees, approximately 8 minutes per pound.
