What's a good substitute for 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder?!

Answers: I was making my deviled eggs and found I had no mustard powder left. Doh!

You can always substitute regular mustard (the condiment) for mustard powder. Just mix in a teaspoon at a time and taste to see how you like it. Mustard powder is very strong since its not mixed with other ingredients so you'll need less of it than you would with the condiment. Ideallly, use a brown or gourmet mustard rather than French's yellow mustard...it'll have a flavour more like mustard powder. Good luck and enjoy those deviled eggs!

Use mustard

Just stir in some regular mustard in that amount...if it tastes off, add more.

1 tablespoon of prepared mustard. I often use brown spicy mustard.

Everybody is right... add some dijon mustard... if you don't have that horseradish can sometimes be passed off as dijon... I know I have been in the culinary arts for years and mistaken one for the other more than once
