How so you season boiled cabbage?!
Answers: I just butter it and sprinkle with black pepper. But what I like better than boiled cabbage is to slice the cabbage into thin long strips, saute some bacon and onion (in half-slices) in a skillet, drain out some of the grease and add the cabbage to the pan. The bacon isn't cooked crisp so it still imparts some of that nice bacon flavor to the cabbage. I cook it until the cabbage wilts, sprinkle with black pepper, stir it in, and serve. It is very very flavorful and good.
I just add the seasoning to the water as i am boiling it
throw some bacon or ham in when you boil it
Caraway is a pretty traditional seasoning for cabbage.
I like ham, onion , potatoes and adolfs meat tenderizer the seasoning not the plain ,,i like the flavor of it with cabbage
please don't boil it! if you can saute it with onions or leeks and some bacon its absolutely wonderful. boiled cabbage is limp, flavourless and smells...
Easiest recipe I use is put a little canola oil in a non stick skillet. Cut cabbage and onions into thin strips and saute in pan. Sprinkle on red pepper, which zings it up a little, depending on how much you put on.... any leftovers also get spicier overnight in the fridge. Result is both cabbage and onions will carmelize and and will give you a low cal, flavorful dish!
Hon, I use some garlic, onion and chili powders and some chopped onion and stew the caggage, til it is soft and ready to eat, then add a pat of butter, salt and pepper.
Cook it in Chicken broth and salt and peper to taste.
