What oil should I use in my cake?!

Question: IT's sposed to have groundnut oil in and I've only got 50ml from the last time I made it and I need to do it tonight. I have sunflower oil best before aug 2007 or olive oil?

I'd go with the groundnut oil for the flavor, and if you need more oil, use some of the sunflower.

I'd not use the out-of-date oil, and olive oil has a weird taste if it's the virgin/extra virgin stuff. I have some almond oil you can use?

olay?

If it's a straight choice I'd go with the out of date sunflower. Olive oil might have a stronger taste.

Almond oil I would think

Depending on what kind of cakw your making really

Sunflower oil, definitely. It is actually not that out of date and if you haven't noticed a rancid smell from it than it should be fine. The olive oil will give the cake a weird taste and make it heavy.

use butter instead

sun flower or vegetable, but not olive as it will leave an after taste.the reason for the oil in cakes is to help prevent them from going stale or making them moist. So the less flavour the oil has the better.

canola oil

I would substitute Sour Cream for the Oil...
Otherwise I would use the rest of the ground nut oil and then use the sunflower oil for the rest of the measurment you need.
I wouldn't suggest the Olive Oil...The cake will have an odd flavor to it that won't be very good at all.

Just because things have an expiration date does't mean they are not good past that date....It just means the stores can't sell it past that date...use your sunflower oil.

i think u can use butter or grapeseed oil if u have....don't use that sun flower oil!!!!! it's expired...
