Reheating poultry in the microwave--any way to prevent that distinctively nasty taste?!
Answers: reheat in broth(chicken) in a bowl.. liquid aborsdes some of that drying taste..
I sprinkle lemon on it. Or I might use a lemon and pepper mix on it.
Stop reheating in the microwave. If your oven is broken, heat the cooked turkey in a skillet on medium heat covered. The oven will work great though! If you must use the microwave, cover the portion with shrink wrap and it should keep the moisture inside the meat.
The only way that I've been able to figure out how to microwave poultry and not have that disgusting taste (and this is going to sound nasty too, but it SO works) is to put the meat - let's say chicken - in a dish and pour a little milk on it before you heat it. Not so that it's swimming in it, but so that there's some liquid from it. When you remove it from the dish and eat it it'll be moist and it doesn't taste like some sort of genetically altered radioactive bird...just try it - you'll be surprised! Just make sure you don't overcook it and have too much milk in it so that it boils over. Then you'll have a mess on your hands as well as nasty chicken.
Put a cup of water and use a microwavable dish cover over your poultry. That should keep the radiation out and keep the moisture and flavor in the food.
