Its all in the vinegar honey!! As soon as I started experimenting with other kinds of vinegars (besides plain white vinegar) my salad started tasting like restaurant salad! I use either white balsamic, red wine vinegar or white wine vinegar. Mix that with olive oil, a pinch of mustard powder, salt, pepper. Its fantastic. Alot of places use lemon juice instead of vinegar so you can try that too!

Honey Mustard or Rasberry Vingegarette

Sweet and Sour Salad Dressing in one of my favs

1 cup of white vinegar
6 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons paprika
1 1/2 teaspoons yellow mustard such as French’s
Pinch of ground cloves
2 cups canola oil
:

Place all ingredients except the canola oil in a blender (do NOT use a food processor for this recipe …it doesn’t work)
Blend briefly to combine ingredients
While blender is running, remove the knob in the lid of the blender and very, very slowly add the oil in a steady, thin stream through the hole
When all the oil has been added, process one more minute or until thick

Creamy Peppercorn Salad Dressing recipe

1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Pinch of garlic powder
Pinch of sea salt, to taste

Whisk all ingredients to combine. Add more milk if necessary to get desired consistency. Let sit at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator to allow flavors to meld. Taste and adjust seasoning accordingly.

**********RANCH SALAD DRESSING
1 c. mayonnaise
1 c. buttermilk/regular milk
1 tsp. parsley flakes
1 tsp. garlic salt
1/4 tsp. Accent
1/8 tsp. pepper
Mix together and serve. Note: tastes like Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing. Dry onion flakes may be added if desired. I prefer the dressing without onions.

1/2 c. Wesson oil
1/2 c. vinegar
1/4 c. water
1/2 c. catsup

Good Seasons Italian Dressing Mix that you mix yourself. Make it with Red Wine Vinegar and Cannola oil...delicious!

Caesar Dressing with extra garlic & very thinly-sliced cheese over romaine lettuce for a salad ... bread sage STUFFING (thanks, Alton Brown) for turkey :-)

Plain ole vinegar & oil (1/2 cup & 1/2 cup proportions work for me = a bit tart & sour), plus add a peeled garlic clove and a very small pinch of crushed red pepper flakes ... store overnight; remove the garlic clove; shake well & sprinkle over salad. This is TASTY.

Ranch dressing :)

Try a French Vinaigrette that contains raw egg (Caesar salad dressing contains raw egg and anchovies), or make a Japanese dressing: 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1/4 cup water, 2 tbs. fresh lemon juice, 1/4 cup sesame oil, 1 tbs. toasted sesame seeds, 3 minced scallions, 1/2 tsp. fresh crushed hot pepper with the seeds, 1 tbs. white sugar, 1 tbs. coarse cut horseradish.
