Ideas for a New Years Dinner?!

Question: Hey, I want to make a New Years Eve dinner for my parents and my grandmother-- a 3 course meal with dessert, an appetizer, and a main course. I want something that looks difficult to make and tastes great, but is relatively easy to make. Desert should be something like creme brule, and price isn't really a problem. I do want to the use fois gras that I have. Thanks so much!

The foie gras could be used as part of the appetizer. As far as the main dish, I would do grilled shrimp and grill some asparagus to go with it. marinade your shimp in your choice--my favorite is a little soy, fresh lime, black pepper and garlic (don't forget the oil so it won't stick). Use a grilling sheet for the aspagagus and use the same base marinade for the asparagus (make two batches--no cross contamination.) Asparagus takes 10 minutes, shrimp about 5.

As far as dessert, I would make a red velvet cake and this recipe is the best! I would recommend following the changes though

green eggs and ham

You should do something that you have never tried before. Maybe you could even have a party with those crackers with the toys inside. I'd say you should try something tasty like a lamb stew with home made soda bread, For dessert have Strawberry short cakes, all you do is buy the bread part from the store and then buy some whipped cream and strawberries. Don't forget the appetizers like bri cheese with crackers and make a crab keish.
