I would keep it simple and enjoy the evening with hubby. Chill a bottle of wine or champagne, strawberries etc. Have fun!

beets

I bought a lobster tail for mine:) i was just getting ideas on how to prepare!
traditionally, they say you should eat black eyed peas on new years--- something about it representing money so you have a prosperous new year.

Comfort food. Whatever you both like best.

cook some comfort food, it is probably cold outside where you live. try the recipe for chicken divan found on www.food.com. it is a creamy chicken dish that you can serve with noodles, rice, or potatoes. or how about not cooking at all? get a crab and some lemon and a fresh baked baguette and enjoy with a glass of crisp white wine. enjoy!

collard greens and black eyed peas

Surf N Turf is always a winning combo.

I am cooking
-Pork Roast
-Cheese/beef/bread :Fondue
-Honey glazed meatball
Here is the meatball recipe

INGREDIENTS
2 eggs
3/4 cup milk
1 cup dry bread crumbs
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
2 teaspoons salt
2 pounds ground beef
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon butter
3/4 cup ketchup
1/2 cup honey
3 tablespoons soy sauce

DIRECTIONS
In a large bowl combine eggs and milk. Add the bread crumbs, onion and salt. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into 1-in. balls. Place in two greased 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pans. Bake, uncovered, at 400 degrees F for 12-15 minutes or until meat is no longer pink.
Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, saute garlic in butter until tender. Stir in the ketchup, honey and soy sauce. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Drain meatballs; add to sauce. Carefully stir to evenly coat. Cook for 5-10 minutes.

Well down south we grill all year long, so we always have a nice grilled NY strip or Ribeye, along with a grilled lobster tail, loaded baked potato, grilled aspargus & homemade garlic bread. Always use medium/hot coals on the charcoal grill & season the steaks lightly on each side with Montreal steak seasoning......For the asparagus, add some sliced garlic & baby bella mushrooms along with a good bit of butter - wrap in foil & place on back corner of grill........simple & romantic......finish off with a nice cheesecake or chocolate covered strawberries & champagne.......

Something simple that you can make ahead of time and just enjoy the evening watching music shows, hanging with friends or however you like to spend it.

Toss and bag a salad, make and freeze a lasagne, cut up some fruit (strawberries, oranges, bananas, pears, etc) and pieces of croissants or cake (white or yellow, no frosting).

Then on NYE, serve salad and bread with butter-garlic sauce to dip while lasagne cooks. For dessert, a chocolate fondue with fruit pieces and cake or croissants. And don't forget the bubbly - or sparkling juice, if you prefer!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! =)

I am making corned beef in the crockpot myself and having Reubens. I have read in the past that it is good luck to have pork and sauerkraut on New Years but lordy, lordy, I can't remember where I heard that.....
If you are eating late you may not want to eat anything heavy. How about Chicken caesar salads and crocks of french onion soup. Now that sounds good.

Most people have black eyed peas for luck and ham. Does not have to be a big ham, it can be sliced ham. And how about adding some canned S&W Sweet Potoatoes. They already have lots of brown sugar and cinnamon in them. Delicious.

My husband and I are going to have rib eye steaks and baked potatoes. Black eyed peas for a side dish.

Maybe a fishay dishayy to set daa moodd Yall!! iF yU aLLsoo lOOkinn 2 spentz a Cople bux, yall cann makez sumz of dat goddd stuf...da fille MIGGYNONZ!
