Answers: On top of the stove....and should I have it on high medium or low?

Rinse the rice in water to get rid of excess starch.
For every cup of rice, add 1 1/2 cups water.
Bring the rice to boil, uncovered, at medium heat.
When boiling, turn the heat down to medium low.
Place the lid on the pot, keeping it tilted to allow steam to escape.
When you can see holes or "craters" in the rice, put the lid on tight.
Turn the heat to low.
Simmer for another 15 minutes.
Fluff up rice and serve.
Tips:
For best results, use long grain rice.
For a bit of variety, try one of the scented rices, such as jasmine. The amount of the water required and the cooking time will be less than for other types of long grain rice.

Bring it to the boil then turn it down to low for 15 min. It will be perfect! Keep it covered and put some salt in the water.

when the water starts boils, boil for a bout a min, then turn down heat to a whisper. let it cook around 15-20 min. fluff with a fork at end.

Once it's simmering, I usually stir it every so often and turn off the heat when it looks and tastes good.

White rice: boil water, add rice, stir, cover, and reduce to low. Cook for 20 minutes.
Brown rice: rinse rice in cold water. Drain. Add 2 cups water for every cup rice. Bring to boil. Cover. Reduce heat to low and cook for 45 mnutes.

Cook the rice till all the water is evaporated. Medium heat is probably the best!
