ok here is something to wow the crowd

RUM

and lots of it..

problem solved.

your welcome

Crab dip with fancy crackers is special. The crab alone costs about $6, plus other ingredients, so it is a bit pricey, but delicious.
You can also have large cooked shrimp with cocktail sauce and lemon wedges, or a baked clam dip in a sourdough bowl, which is impressive.
I suggest that you do a recipe search for items that you like on different websites like Food Network, and see what appeals to you.
Our family doesn't go for the expensive stuff... we like Hillshire Farms mini sausages in BBQ sauce, bacon wrapped tater tots (too Delicious for words) ham slices with cream cheese and herbs rolled up into pinwheels served with crackers, and onion dip and chips.
Hope any of these sound good to you!

I love doing appetizers! Smoked salmon or Liver Pate' with crackers is really nice. I usually do a shrimp cocktail, too, and an antipasto tray.

How about crab stuffed mushrooms?

* 1 pound fresh mushrooms
* 7 ounces crabmeat
* 5 green onions, thinly sliced
* 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
* 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
* 1/4 teaspoon ground savory
* ground black pepper to taste
* 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
* 1/3 cup mayonnaise
* 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
* 1/4 teaspoon paprika
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. In a medium bowl, combine crabmeat, green onions, herbs, and pepper. Mix in mayonnaise and 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese until well combined. Refrigerate filling until ready for use.
3. Wipe the mushrooms clean with a damp towel. Remove stems. Spoon out the gills and the base of the stem, making deep cups. Discard gills and stems. Fill the mushroom caps with rounded teaspoonfuls of filling, and place them in an ungreased shallow baking dish. Sprinkle tops with Parmesan and paprika.
4. Bake for 15 minutes. Remove from oven, and serve immediately

Or this is wonderful, too:
Asparagus and Prosciutto Bundles

1 bunch asparagus, ends trimmed (about 20 spears)
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary leaves
1 garlic clove, minced
Pinch kosher salt
Pinch freshly ground black pepper
4 to 6 ounces thinly sliced prosciutto

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Lay the asparagus on a foil-lined baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle with rosemary, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Roast until cooked and starting to brown around the edges, about 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and transfer to another baking sheet to cool.

Once the asparagus have cooled, wrap each spear in a slice of prosciutto. Arrange on a serving platter and serve at room temperature.

Happy New Year!

We like mini-sausages wrapped in bacon and cooked in brown sugar. We also like chips and veggies with dip. Crackers and cheese is also popular.

Roll up some Green Giant asparagus in sliced ham and use a tooth pick to hold it after you roll it.
Mix some sour cream, cream cheese and chopped red pepper, and spoon on small round turkey slices. You can buy cherry peppers stuffed with prosciutto at Sam's club. Happy New Year!

Now this is a make ahead salad but it is good. Google
"Bodacious Broccoli Salad" It is excellent. I added Craisins and made it even better.

Everyone love Salami and cheese with crackers.

This one is easy and good. unwrap a package of cream cheese(room temp), mix salad shrimp with seafood cocktail sauce, pour over top of cream cheese--spread on crackers.

I love doing appetizers for parties. I always make a "taco dip". It's a layered dip (don't mix together). Bottom layer is cream cheese, on top of that I put Chi-Chi's Mild Fiesta Salsa, then shredded lettuce & on the top orange shredded cheese. Serve with Tostitos chips. I also always put a cheese, pepperoni & cracker tray out. Veggies & dip. Chips & dip. Then I make beer bread & "Bacon Bacon" dip. You can get the mixes for these from Tastefully Simple. (They do home parties but they also have a website you can buy them from www.tastefullysimple.com) That appetizer is always a hit! I also sometimes make pizza dip & a spinach dip. You could always do fondue also with lots of things for your guests to dip. Fresh fruit with a fruit dip is tasty too. Another good website to try for recipes is www.kraftfoods.com

I make a vegie pizza that is sooooooo good and beautiful. I use whatever vegies I'm in the mood for. It's just so pretty with all the colors.

INGREDIENTS
2 (8 ounce) packages refrigerated crescent rolls
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 cup mayonnaise
1 (1 ounce) package dry Ranch-style dressing mix
1 cup fresh broccoli, chopped
1 cup chopped tomatoes
1 cup chopped green bell pepper
1 cup chopped cauliflower
1 cup shredded carrots
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Roll out the crescent roll dough onto a 9x13 inch baking sheet, and pinch together edges to form the pizza crust.
Bake crust for 12 minutes in the preheated oven. Once finished cooking, remove crust from oven and let cool 15 minutes without removing it from the baking sheet.
In a small mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, mayonnaise, and dry Ranch dressing. Spread the mixture over the cooled crust. Arrange broccoli, tomato, green bell pepper, cauliflower, shredded carrots, and Cheddar cheese over the cream cheese layer. Chill for one hour, slice and serve.

Applewood smokedBacon wrapped U2 size prawns under the broiler with a sweet chili sauce dip will WOW them. These prawns are about 6 inches long! One or two makes an appetizer in itself.

Some other ideas are Mixed Olive tepanade and cream cheese on big size whole wheat crackers.

Hot Crab Dip using fresh crab. Use the shell to contain the dip for presentation.

Grilled Ostrich or Emu skewers with a chipotle pepper mayo dip.

Fried Calamari with Greek Tsazeki sauce (Yogurt, salt and fresh squeezed garlic and lemon)

Sushi of all sorts.
