Should there be a law against Foie Gras? Substitution for it?!

Question: poor ducks they are force fed and their liver are enlarged by the time they hit the plate and that buttery, rich flavor hits me.

Answers: poor ducks they are force fed and their liver are enlarged by the time they hit the plate and that buttery, rich flavor hits me.

I dont think foie gras should be banned unless governments are prepared to ban all forms of intensive and cruel animal farming. Otherwise it's hypocrisy and a meaningless gesture towards animal welfare.

Plus I LOVE foie gras.

I don't believe it should be illegal to serve foie gras. If people don't like how it comes to be then they shouldn't eat it.

I think you are asking the wrong question, it should be "should there be a law against force feeding of animals?".

It is possible to make foie grass without force feeding, it's just that force feeding makes it taste much better due to higher fat content of the liver.

It's illegal to serve foie gras in a restaurant in Chicago (actually, it's illegal to charge for it--you could serve it if you don't make people pay for it). There was also a proposal in the last year or so to ban foods fried in trans fat. It didn't pass. Our city council's a little different here...

No. By this kind of thinking the only meat that shouldn't be outlawed is Kobe beef because they are the only meat animals that are pampered and really cared for, other than being given food and water, their entire lives.

force feeding the ducks doesn't really hurt them. They have no gag reflex, and they don't even feel the stuff being pushed down their throat.

I don't know, because i've never seen a foie gras farm.
It seems to me though, that fat people are all jolly like santa, so why wouldn't ducks be happy getting all fat too?

I don't really like foie fras, just cuz it think it's ridiculous. I mean there are soo many other things we could be doing with our time other than force feeding ducks. Also, I don't particularly like to eat liver. I prefer to use dexelles in things like beef wellington.

So there should be no law against it, but i think people should know what they're getting. I'm sure there are people around who love foie gras, but would be completely horrified if they knew where it comes from.
