How can i change marshmellows to different colors.?!
Answers: I want to make a cake for my my daughters first birthday and i want to change the marshmellow to different colors. Can i use food coloring to change the colors of them. I'm wanting to make a rainbow. How can i make them different colors and still taste good?
Hiya, I really liked your question and really want to help not only because I have a little boy and know how it feels to want to please him with every single thing i do but also because I love marshmallows, sorry got sidetracked I meant love helping people, yeah thats the one.....mmmm marshmallows
ANYWAY... Marshmallows are actually, mostly water sooo.. if you emerge them in food dye it WILL take to the marshmallow, BUT theres a pitfall, with them being mostly water theres a danger of two things (well not a danger just more of a unwelcome happening i suppose)
(1)
The marshmallow may take in too much of the food dye/coloring and could make the marshmallow taste a little nasty or at worst make someone ill (this is if there is too much taken into the marshmallow - think of it as a sponge and water)
(2)
The marshmallow may collapse due to the dye making the already water-full marshmallow too liquid(y).
but it can be done so here are my thoughts, How about you get the food colouring/dye and take a single marshmallow, then dip it into the dye and all over the marshmallow, make a note of how long you leave the mallow in the dye and then leave it to dry off for a few mins, then cut the mallow in half, check how far the dye has gone inside and if its been over indulged in the dye itself (im afraid this may mean tasting for yourself so eat only a little to see if its okay then munch away)
so basically use one mallow as a tester for all of them and you should be well away.
Also I thought about maybe how you could coat the mallows in some kind of coating other than dye, how about icing sugar? just a thought sorry if its a silly one. Or how about seeing if the cake store or supermarket has hundreds and thousands, but as single colours, then you could roll the mallows in some icing sugar, and then sprinkle away, yum yum, i think i might have to go get some ingredients myself lol.
Anyway, hope this helped and please let us know how it goes, maybe post up a photo of the cake when its done, or email me a photo of it, Im really looking forward to knowing how it turns out.
All the best and take care, hope I helped even if only a little.

Food dye works.
you can buy them from your local store
food coloring has no taste and won't affect the taste of the marshmellows
Buy the colored ones.
all you have to do is buy a package of the different colored marshmallows. they sell them at wal-mart.
Food colouring will work. You can buy little bottles of it from supermarkets. Fill a bowl with a colour and put the marshmellows that you want dyed into that bowl for a couple of minutes. It should work perfectly!
Well I think...hmmm maybe put the marshmellow on the fire then put food coloring or the opposite. Or you can buy them. LOl goodluck
Buy a pack of easter egg coloring and dip the marshmallows like eggs; then let dry.
if the marshmelloes r the big kind the dye works but the small one already come colored
There are acutally these different colored flavored marshmallows that you can get @ the store
They taste really good
or i guess that you could use food dye
but i'd just rather buy em then have to get the food dye and the plain marshamallows and dye em
(personal experience)
food coloring or they make them, too.
well, they sell marshmallows in different colors. They are light pink, blue, white etc.. or you could try putting a lil bit of dye in a bowl, just a lil tiny bit then put water in it and dip them in it?
why not make your own marshmallows and add the food dye when making them?
Use food coloring.
food colouring, it won't change the taste
While you are beating the egg white, add the food color.
