Do carrots really make you see in the dark?!

Question: or is it an evil lie?

Answers: or is it an evil lie?

It's an old wifes' tale, but who's to say it isn't right?

Carrots improve your eyes so it will be easier for them to adjust in the dark faster. And in ways you can see better in the dark.

no but beta carotine is good for your eyes

Not true!

Lol it came about cos of the vitamin A content for the eyesight

if you eat like a daft a amount it would increase the quailty of the vision but all the carotene would make you so orange

Carrots are rich in the vitamin beta carrotene, and part of that vitamin is used by the rod cells at the back of your eye, and its these cells that help you to see in the dark. So yes, they do help.

"MUNCH CRUNCH" .........................."THUD"

NO!!!!

Like before, the answer would be No

Why are carrots a rabbits favorite vegetable? because it makes them have great eye sight,i believe its true because all fruit and vegetables are good for you.

yeah, when you carry a flashlight LOL. Carrots are suppose to give you minerals to improve your eyesight. Ate carrots all my life, still wear glasses, and have night vision problems so
for me, nope, didn't help.

No it's a fib, not an evil lie. During the war to hide the existence of Radar from the Germans the RAF made out that the pilots were being fed lots of carrots to help them see better.

the carotenoids in carrots are important for vision. without them, you would not be able to see. but additional carotenoids will not improve vision.

No, it's true. Foods containing large amounts of vitamin A and beta-carotene (carrots are one, so are any other yellow or orange colored fruit or veggie) feed the rods and cones on the retina directly. They are needed to see in the dark.

So eat up!

carrots are good for the eyes and yes can inprove your seeing . really. my opion?

yes they really help you see in the dark ......
best eaten whilst carrying a torch.....

No, but since you asked, I am going to tell you a self experienced fact about carrots. Twenty years ago I went to the eye Doctor and he prescribed glasses after an eye examination when I scored a lot less than 20/20. Since then I have been eating a stick of carrot every single day. I was developing problem seeing with glasses on. I went to the eye Doctor again and I scored this time a perfect 20/20 vision. Guess what? I threw the glasses away.

beta carotene is in carrots and its good for your eyes ..does it make u able to see in the dark? -i dont know.

no they don't !! If they did there'd be a lot less dead rabbits at the side of the road !!
then again I've never seen a rabbit wearing glasses???

i eat carrots, and my eye sight is bad!
-7.00 in both eyes.

maybe its because i dont eat enough carrots.....just bought baby carrots today...maybe feeding those to my kids like i insist, it will help prevent them from having problems with their eyes?

veggies are good for you so eat them anyways!

Evil lie i say.
haha.
I can see pretty well in the dark, and I haven't had a carrot since summer.

They are good for your eye sight but they wont make u c in the dark

Too much beta carotene will turn your skin yellow. "You are what you eat" as the old saying goes. Take it easy on the carrots.

Carrots are rich in Vitamin A, which can prevent you from having 'Night Blindness' ( I don't know what it's called).

I don't think of it as an "evil lie" as you suggested.

But I don't believe it to be the whole truth either.

No, but they can make your nose orange, so maybe that helps.
My children's doctor once asked me if I gave my daughter a lot of carrots. 'No,' I said ,'why do you ask?'
'Because her nose is orange.'
Because we travelled around a lot, I often gave her jars of food and guess what? I checked them out when I got home and almost all of them had carrot in them! No idea why. After that I decided it might be better to resort to home cooking.
She's 35 now, and her nose is no longer orange, so that's all right.

yes it does,,

1 carrot a day,, make you avoid eye glass.
2 carrots a day, make you avoid 3 miles.
3 carrots a day, make you see in the dark.
4 carrots a day, make you see the pilot in the air plane (day or night)

Keep eating carrots,, it’s tasty and look nice as well ;)
see it to believe it

saaaz

MYTH: Children should eat carrots to improve their vision.

FACT: Although it's true that carrots are rich in vitamin A, which is essential for sight, many other foods (asparagus, apricots, nectarines, and milk, for example) also contain vitamin A. So, a well-balanced diet can provide the vitamin A needed for good vision

carrots are good for you eyesight did you ever see a rabbit with glasses

Its a lie but not an evil one it was a story made up during world war II to get kids to eat more vegetables as they told them that pilots ate lots of carrots to see better in the dark and as pilots were hero worshipped then the kids ate more vegetables especially carrots which were abundant and not on ration
