Do people make and give Fruitcake at the holidays anymore?!

Question: There are some real crappy ones out there. i agree. but homemade fruit cake can be really good if its done right. Do people still make them or is it only given as a gag gift.

I make them for my family and friends but i dont give them as gifts!! i just top them up with plenty of booze depending on who its for!!!

The shop ones are pretty crap, and i find that the more expensive the worse they are!!

YES! (unfortunately)

***I do and this is a great recipe
I am not a fan of fruitcake
NO BAKE FRUIT CAKE

1, 1 lb. package of vanilla wafers crushed
1 qt. pecans
? lb each, red, green, candied cherries cut up and use the juice
? lb golden raisins
1 can sweetened condensed milk (you can add 1 tsp. rum extract to milk before mixing)
Mix all the dry ingredients in a large bowl,
Add milk, mix well, pack into a lined can and chill,
I used a large Tupperware storage bowl with a custard cup upside down in the middle, this way it turned out looking like a fruit cake.
The longer it sits the better it gets.

I don't think they are as poplular as they used to be. I love them and have made them but have never cared for the recipies that I have used. I wish I could find a good recipe--I would make them every year.

I think people make bad fruitcake on purpose and give it to people they dont like and tell them to try it so they can kinda torture them

yes people still make them to eat and for gifts there are several kinds that are good. i really like one called ORANGE SLICE CAKE.
