The last time was New Years 2006,
It was great. Just take a large pot of boiling water, drop your lobster in the water for 15min. Make a side of butter and fresh garlic for dipping.

Boiled Lobster with Pepper Butter

4 lobsters
1/4 pound unsalted butter
4 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons fresh-ground black pepper

Directions:
In a large pot of boiling, salted water, cook the lobsters, covered, until just done, about 10 minutes after the water returns to a boil.
Meanwhile, in a medium stainless-steel saucepan, melt the butter. Remove the pan from the heat and add the lemon juice, parsley, salt, and pepper. Divide the butter among four small bowls. Serve the lobsters with the pepper butter for dipping.
Makes 4 servings

The last time I cooked live lobster was about 30 years ago. The lobster tasted great, I followed the directions, but my kitchen looked like a rainstorm had come through. I made such a mess, water all over the place. I eat lobster when I go out now. I still have that huge pot though, use it in the summer time for corn on the cob when we are having a roast with friends over.

It doesn't take long. I cooked yabbies not long ago. As with lobster you put them in the freezer for a little while. Get the water boiling and drop them in. It is the natural life cycle of these creatures to hibernate in low temperatures. They go to sleep and are relaxed it doesn't hurt them to be boiled alive then so they won't splash and make a mes sof your kitchen and the flesh being relaxed is slightly larger.
With yabbies you leave them in clean water with a gum leaf for a few hours after you catch them. This cleans out their bellies.
It is a long time since I cooked crayfish (we don't have lobsters in South East Australia, we have crayfish instead,) but the same method is used however the water you give them must be the same water as the water they were c\aught in. If they came out of salt water they must be cleaned by allowing them to swim in salt water, or fresh water in fresh water.
Don't let the lobsters get warm again though before you put them in the water, I once had crayfish running around my kitchen when I went and answerted the phone!!!!!!!!!

Never.

And I never will.

I think it's cruel and unusual.
