Can i use pecans in banana but bread?!
Thanks!
Answers: My recipe calls for almonds but I bought pecans by accident. Is it okay to use pecans instead and if so should I add salt or something similar?
Thanks!
Pecans are fine. You can add a little extra flavor if you very very caarefully toast them in a small pan.......either with or without a little butter......just be sure the heat is not too hot or you will burn them......
You can also use walnuts, either raw or toasted.
You may add salt or not, it has nothing to do with what kind of nut you are adding, just whether or not you like salt in your banana bread
I love pecans! They are great in banana bread. Actually mast any nut except peanuts would be a good substitution.
Yes, you can use pecans, per the professional recipe below.

Yes you can use pecans. It should be tasty.
Pecans are fine in banana nut bread--I use them all the time. There's no need to add anything extra, like salt.
pecans would be much better than almonds.. you can substitute any nut... and just follow the recipe why would you need to add extra salt?
Of course. My recipe calls for walnuts. Use whatever strikes your fancy, tickles your boat or happens to be present in your cupboards. No need to add anything extra. Just substitute them cup for cup. Or if you don't like nuts just leave them out.
ABSOLUTLEY!!! It tastes sooooo good!!!! I put pecans in mine everytime i make it. It doesnt make a day in my household.
of course you can use pecans there like the best nuts you can use.. :D
yep, you can use pecans ... never heard of a banana nut bread recipe calling for almonds, walnuts maybe, but never almonds ... I've substituted pecans for walnuts before and it comes out great. No there is no need to add additional salt, although in order to balance the "sweet", all desserts, baked goods, and other sweets should have a pinch of salt added even if the recipe doesn't call for it.
For an added flavor bonus try substituting 1/4 cup of your liquid with rum, bourbon, or brandy ... the alcohol evaporates when you cook it. What is left behind is pure delicious flavor.
Pecans will be great. Don't add any salt. Another tip, replace 1/2 of the white sugar in the recipe with brown sugar....you will not be able to stop eating this bread!
it's OK I dislike almonds so I always use chopped pecans and walnuts work as well.
Of course you can use pecans. I switch my nut depending on what I have in the house, it can be walnuts, hazelnuts, or almonds, sometimes I don't have any and use chocolate chips or raisins or currants. I don't add any extra salt.
