A good cooking guide for beginners?!
Answers: I am getting my first house in August and I am really interested in becoming a really good cook. Anyone have any good books for beginners??
Betty Crocker and Better Homes and Garden are good. The best for MY money is Joy of Cooking. Really dazzlingly complete for the beginner or the pro.
the "BETTY CROCKER COOK BOOK" is what I was raised on and its the first cook book I gave my daughters when they were married..... real basic and wonderful recipes
Better Homes and Gardens New Cookbook is a good beginners book as are Pillsbury, Betty Crockers Picture Cookbook, The New Settlement Cookbook and The Joy of Cooking - although the last two are a bit more sophisticated than the other three.
I agree with the first poster who said Betty Crocker cookbook, I was given a copy when I married and it is still my go to cookbook and I have a bookcase full of cookbooks, believe you me. I use their pie dough, beef stroganoff, banana bread and others quite often. It is not a very expensive cookbook.
