I'm baking sugar cookies, but I have a question?!
Please answer asap. I just filled one tray. I'm not gonna make more if they're already too big or small.
Answers: I'm not doing cookie cutter shaped cookies. I took a tablespoon and just formed little cookie balls. I guess they're called drop cookies. My question is should the balls be as small as a ping pong ball; some a little bigger?

actually, any size is fine, whats more important is consistency so that all the cookies brown similarly. for extra fun, you can dip the balls in sprinkles before they go in the oven.
i would say that would be a nice size, as a lot of people use those melon ballers to make drop cookies...good luck
ya thats a pretty good size, make them small like that because there gonna flatten and take up more room [ so dont do them 2 close together ]
Yummm sugar cookies:)
Those may be a little too big, but if you have a small ice cream scooper you can scoop it out of the bowl that way they will all be the same size. That's what they do on Food Network all the time!
ping pong ball shaped is probably about right, but it depends on how much the dough will spread when cooked (or if it will for that matter)
Make them equal sized, on your cookie sheet, so that they will bake evenly. Big ones will of course, not bake as quickly as little ones. Little ones burn before big ones are done.
it doesnt matter but make sure that the balls are not touching each other or they will bake to gther when they expand
good luck!
Dang, Thought it was my address you wanted to know so you could send me some.
Oh well, hope you have a good 2008 :)
I normally do them fairly small , about a heaped teaspoon of dough . But I like lots of little cookies.
I would say a little smaller than a ping pong ball. Roll them in sugar, put them on the pan and then using the bottom of a drinking glass dipped in sugar, flatten them out a bit.

PS I remember having a tool called a Mellon Baller
looked like a scissors. I mad meat balls with them..???
I wonder where they went???
I think thats a nice size much bigger and it would be too much to eat just one
That should be a good size - just try to get the size consistent on a tray so they cook evenly.
