I didn't fry the yoke enough. Am I going to die?!

Question: I was frying an egg and I was in a hurry, so the yoke was runny. I heard that one can die from some virus - salmonella? - if the egg is undercooked.

OMG

Oh for goodness sakes, Yes you are going to die but not from a tasty runny egg yolk.

Dude .......... grow up u cant die from 1 egg

It's okay. Relax. The chances of getting salmonella from an undercooked egg is so small that you'll probably never get it. Plus, the chances of dying from salmonella is small too with today's technology. So...no worries! There are MANY dishes from Asian countries that require raw eggs, and they're fine, right? And whenever you get uncooked cookie dough, there's eggs in there, too! Also, if you fried the egg and the white part was normal, it is cooked well enough that the salmonella would have died.

**salmonella is a BACTERIA, not a virus. You cannot kill viruses (they aren't alive to start with), but you can kill bacteria.

If you aren't dead or sick yet, you'll be alright (remember, body builders used to drink raw eggs by the glass before protein supplements.)

No you will not die, that is what you called over easy, some people have it for breakfast every morning other like it cooked scrambled, medium or well...you'll be fine!!!

definitely NOT

dont worry nothing will happen.

i m eating raw eggs and half-boiled eggs since my childhood and its one of my favorites.

Salmonella only occurs in about one out of 20,000 eggs, and it's not deadly, its just food poisoning and will make you feel like you have the flu for a day or so. Don't worry about it.

Of course u cnt die! Its 1 egg! It cnt kill u! Its 1 egg grow up and stop asking stupid questions!

No, dont worry. :)

no !!
u cant die from it
some people eat raw egg everyday!!

Hi , Juliet,I found interesting information about your answer here.http://food-drink-blog.blogspot.com/2008... .have a good day.

Yes.

you will be ok dont worry - god bless

Ah yes, the uncooked yoke. Cooked it this mornin. Burying me tonight. LOL

I'm almost 64 and I've been eating my fried and poached eggs with runny yolks all my life and I've never gotten sick from one yet.

You're a dumb ***. Really go back to school and learn some more. What do you think body builders do when they drink egg and what not raw. Do you think they die. You can only get salmonella from under cooked chicken, well. I'm actually not sure if you can get it from anything else. but I know you can't get it from egg. You should learn to be more analytical and critical of what people say.

Not likely , Eggs over easy!

Don't worry about it. Salmonella is usually "dangerous" at most for young children or people whose immune defenses are already down. But it can be treated. Most people never even realize it if they come into contact with it. Just make sure your eggs are fresh and from a fairly (at least) reliable source.

If I think that I was practically raised on soft-boiled eggs... you can't get a runnier yolk than that. LOL! And my husband refuses to eat a fried egg whose yolk is not runny: if it's solid, he considers it "overcooked". So it's all a matter of taste.

So, with all the salmonella scares going around, I assume no one made eggnog this New Year's, and no one ever makes homemade maionnaise anymore either, right?

I am sure you will be fine.
